Hi all,i have a 40 inch Ro with 2 pre filters(As was recommended and sold to me) running for about 6 years.
I have been broadly happy with the results but have noticed when re ordering pre filters that a lot of companies are selling sets of 3 10inch  filters.
What,if any,advantages would i gain by possibly adding in another canister?

None, pre filters protect the RO membrane and nothing more, the third pre filter is just another carbon filter (granular) GAC
which will give extra protection from chlorine if needed.
As your 40 inch RO has been running ok for 6 years you're already well protected.

Hey. I swapped a few years ago to fibredine filters because the others filters weren't doing that gooder job. Went through two Ro membranes in 2 years. Not cheap at £200 a piece! Since I've swapped to fibredine the system has never ran better. 21/2 years later still running fine with no signs of deterioration. Swap filters every 5 months

I would be slightly worried about the chlorine levels in my drinking water if its killing a membrane a year, might be worth
getting that checked out.
I have a brother who lives very close to a water sub station and I'm not joking there are times when he runs the tap that it smells like a swimming pool, he complained but the water was within the normal allowances (top level ) seriously you want to taste
a cup of coffee or tea made with it, horrible. 
Personally I haven't seen anything yet about the Fibredyne filter that doesn't say over priced gimmick, a sediment filter costs
around £2 and they all do the same thing if bought from a trusted dealer, the rest is just carbon again as long as its quality from
a trusted dealer then all should be fine.
Your paying extra for combining the two and selling it with a fancy name.

Cheers for that. The problem I had was that the Brodex onboard van system only has one space a single pre filter. Ideally some people say you need a carbon & sediment, some have 3.
My tap water never smells of chlorine (Malvern hills) tastes good. But since I've swapped to the fibredine the system and Ro run perfectly. Tds changes from summer about 280 -300 but in the winter it's 230 or lower.
A 5 monthly change of the filter is pretty good I think.! So I've really put it down to the single fibredine correcting the inadequate protection of the Ro.
