Hernia,
« on: July 10, 2016, 10:50:02 am »
Hi all,
ive just self diagnosed myself as having a hernia.   going to docs,       lower groin.     Has anyone had this Op,   what was the healing time ,    i never thought anything  of having a hernia before this.    Been going to gym as normal,  Squatting, deadlifts, situps.     when ive read up on Hernia       i now realise the damage i could have done to myself, if a hernia has too much pressure placed in that area it can strangle that area and Clot the blood flow.    Causing death.        ??? ??? :'(. i was really shocked.     You never think of things like this can happen to you.   its not too bad ATM, so im off to Alcudia first.    Get straight to docs when i get back so it dosent effect my insurance ;), Hopefully all goes well.
Just check any little thing out that you think its nothing, it wil not l go away itself. Hernias do not Heal there selves
You need an Opperation.
I only realised when i coughed, or sneezed,   there was a slight movement in my groin area.     Then you can see a swelling  on your groin side.            I was relieved when i realised it was  or is a hernia.     all symptons point to that.

Just thought id share this  in case you get symptons, dont ignore them

That what happens mostly when you start getting older as the muscle wall start to weaken and eventually rupture allowing yer insides to poke through.  You will know when this happens as you will be in excruciating pain. I should know as I've had two umbilical hernia operations that each time put me out of action for a number of weeks.

Regards telling people before it’s too late a few years ago my aging mum passed away due to a strangulated umbilical hernia that she kept hidden from the family by wearing lose clothing. My mum never told anyone including her own doctor until she was rushed into hospital but sadly was too late to save her life.

For me the first operation they did a quick repair (apparently to save money) without putting that gauze stiff in. The second one they done right and put it in. However both times had to be evasive surgery and I did not get a choice so I have now two scares instead of one.

Typical NHS wasting money if you ask me as they should have done the hernia repair operation properly in the first place and put the bloody gauze stuff in first time around so I would not have had to go through all the pain and aggro again.

i was playing rugby a few years back and thought I had an hernia, it was 3 quarters of the way through the season so I carried on playing through the pain...when the season finished is been given stretches to help it heal it felt OK for a little while until I got bk for pre season so I went for an mri scan..good news was there was no hernia bad news was I'd fractured my pelvis 🙈🙈

Two bits of advice, Bravo: firstly, stop diagnosing yourself.
And thirdly, never holiday in Alcudia with an hernia; you'll almost certainly die to death; go to Morecambe instead,
You need to be hernia wise.

At least you sort help as people can bleed to death with a fractured pelvis.

Doc said you're ok so why worry for now.
Like I said before you will certainly know when it's time to get it sorted out as the pain will become unbearable.

You didn't give him much time for not worrying.

same as you smurf, had a hernia op about 25 years ago, they said theres two types of op they can do, they chose the cheapest one just tied it up and said that will last you twenty years, that was 25 ago, they should of put the mesh one in, hernia ops are standard though in and out the same day and take 2 to 3 weeks to get back on your feet, not sure how long before your back on the tools though.

Seems a standard thing Matty as I suppose they are trying to save a few shillings.
