Gutter cleaning
« on: June 27, 2016, 10:51:21 pm »
Going to be buying a system soon but can't make my mind up on whether to go with the more durable alloy poles or the lighter carbon, I'm thinking the carbon ones will have all sorts of stuff going through them that could potentially damage them, has anyone had any damaged carbon poles ? And for anyone who uses alloy how do you get on with the weight of them at heights like 40 feet?

Cheers

Alloy poles are best considered unusable at 40 ft,you shouldn't even consider them below that either.

Spend the extra and buy Carbon. I doubt anyone will recommend Alloy poles, best  £650 i spent.
Life used to be full of up's and downs....now i hardly ever get up a ladder :) .

Hi Rob,

We do a 40ft carbon fibre kit with the 3000 watt vac for £799 including VAT and delivery. Our poles are 100% carbon fibre for rigidity.

Alloy poles are heavy to start with let alone when the crud starts sticking to the insides of the poles. If your looking to do more than 1 job a week I would recommend carbon any day.

If you take on awkward (acute angle) 2 storey and/or 3 storey or above gutter clearing jobs then you will strugle like hell using ali guttervac poles.  Using carbon guttervac poles is defo a no brainer in those situations.

The strain on my back and shoulders just raising and lowering ali poles long enough to reach into awkward and/or taller jobs and keeping full control especialy when lowering long heavy poles was my main issues when I use to use ali.

We have both. Carbon for every day and metal one for the savage ones!

I'd go for carbon, metal poles are heavy!

I also carry both in the van but will only use my old omnivac ali poles if needs must now and certainly not above 2 storeys if I can help it.
