Gutter vacs
« on: June 15, 2016, 09:20:13 am »
Hi I wonder if those that use them

Could help if possible

I'm after the most compact and lightest one available
its not for heavy use I have one the size of small wheelie bin but to heavy by yourself

I'm looking for small ( even if needs emptying  more often) but more importantly what's the smallest size hose that you can get away with and also smallest pipes some are using

Thanks in advance

Tony

Hi Tony,

It depends on your budget, we do a 1250 watt machine with 1.2 metre metal poles (they weigh 600 grams each). We can also do carbon poles 1.5 metre long that weigh 340 grams each with that machine. The hose length is 3.75 metres (12ft) on those machines. Obviously the carbon is more expensive as the carbon cloth costs a lot more than aluminium then we have to make them. We use this machine ourselves on gutter cleaning jobs and have never had any problems with them. Hope that helps.

I've been really impressed with my nilfisk multi 30t. Good suction. 1200watt. (Small enough to carry in the van and ideal to clear domestic gutters. More than happy working in the pouring rain. Well impressed with it.

All for the sum of £109.

Although I havnt tried the big machines to compare the suction its more than capable and has earnt it's money

Roughly how much for say a 3 bedroom traditional semi and, roughly how long would it take to do. Get asked quite a lot but prefer just cleaning windows. Don't really want to clear gutter s unless can make better money

Sure like any add-on service there is money to be made at clearing guttering and blocked downspouts if priced well but it's not as easy as people make out it is especially if using a low powered vac.

Some jobs can be a real doddle to do and others can be a right pita. Not to mention times whem guttering has to be cleared by hand and repaired that has to be done normally via ladders and/or other appropriate access methods.

That is why not many window cleaners stick at it as they soon realise they prefer to just cleaning glass as can be much easier, cleaner & safer work.

Hi Steve,

We would do a job like that in 30 - 45 minutes using the vac, that is from arriving to leaving. Depending where you are in the country you would be looking at £40-£50 for a job like that but some people get even more than that.

Best to keep pushing the price up I would say as I started of dirt cheap like yourself.

I would charge £75 for an easy access 1930's 3 bed semi.

Been eyeing this vac up. Looks like it could be really useful for some big gutter jobs. 2 big for every day use I recon.  https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/nilfisk-alto-attix-961-01-single-phase-wet-d/

Anyone had any experience with this machine?

Hi Nick, do you know what the approximate weight of your 3000W and GCS 1250 vacuums are? Do you also have a footprint size for both as I only have a Transit Connect always carrying alot of other tools? Thanks

Hi,

The 1250 watt machine is approximately 40cm x 40cm x 45cm tall and weighs 5kg. The 3000 watt machine is 63cm long x 59cm wide x 99cm tall and weighs 28 kg. Height wise both will fit into a transit connect and they're both great machines.
