« on: June 01, 2016, 07:06:44 pm »
I have tried everything taken everything apart again and again, I cant get more than  a liter of pure water a minute , lowest tds i can get is 17, psi can get upto 60, just doesn't seem to work as it should, everything is new, going to test it on a friends system if i get same results company that sold it said will take back and check for me ( thats cool), anyone any miracle ideas.

What ratio of pure to waste are you running ? on a new membrane you should be looking at around 50/50.

How have you fit the inlet hose to the tap your using?
i.e have you hose locked it onto the tap, or is it just a barb fitting?

Check you havent put ptfe over the connectors hole stemming the flow of water, or maybe try a different connector if you've used one..?

Just make sure you've got a good amount of flow coming out of said tap is what I'm sayinh, mate of mine had a spilt hose lock feed on his merlin
Had a similar problem, turned out he hadn't fully opened up the tap on the outlet he was trying to use and the R.O wasn't getting enough water
Why don't you have a quick google before making stupid comments?

cheers mate tried all of that, using a hose lock fitting, tried a few different ones, the flow going into the 4040 seems fine and powerful, coming out the other end not so good, have changed all connectors, disconnected everything, one hose goes in, two out and nothing else, still slow production, this suggests to me something in the 4040 but no idea what.

Shouldn't psi be 80?

I reckon you need a pump. That's the problem.

maybe in time but according to company who sold it should be getting alot better results, its Hf5 filter, designed to work at low psi, it takes forever to produce 1000 ltrs, should be better than this

Low PSI is about 80 I think for 4040s. Who did you buy it from?

Iv never had a 4040 but I know they have high and low pressure membranes is the right one fitted for your tap pressure.

Get one of these to first test the tap pressure and go from there http://www.screwfix.com/p/monument-tools-mains-water-pressure-test-gauge/82412?_requestid=293002

Do a flow rate test on the tap too as both have an impact on ro's production rate.

I take it you're getting a shed load of waste then?
If you're not getting much from either waste or pure then you're getting a restriction on flow somewhere...

I've got a HF5 unboosted, water pressure is about 35-40psi (i really ought to get a pump just haven't got around to it!) and I get 100 litres in under an hour (40-60 pure - waste) so you should definitley be getting better than you are

If you open your gate valve fully and then open it up slowly, can you see the difference in pure production?
Why don't you have a quick google before making stupid comments?

There is something not quite right with Matty's setup.
