Sliding Patio Doors Drainage Gutter - Do you clean it?
« on: May 24, 2016, 07:47:30 pm »
These drainage gutters on sliding patio doors often get filled up with leaves, general muck & even litter. Do you clean them out as part of your window cleaning service? I occasionally give them a quick swipe with the WFP brush but not much else ....

Don't care. Often they're blocked somewhere. Like the Op, a quick swipe, but that's it.

It's just the channel/track at the top and bottom of the frame that a sliding patio door sits in to be able to slide without the sliding part of the patio door falling out. The reason why they fill with water when using a wfp pole is one or more drainage holes are blocked so the water can't freely flow away

Good answer. Job done!

Mind most wfp guys don't know how to trad anyway as they just like to stick waggle and get water everywhere

I'm also betting they do front and back doors the same way too and just hope the doors don't leak water into the property  ;D

I'm full of surprises, me.
I can't kneel down anymore, so I lie down and do 'um.  It takes me ages to get up after though and a few customers have tripped over me whilst doing a full sliding patio door drainage gutter clean.  I even fell asleep once.
But I don't like doing half a job.

I know the feeling as I once knelt down on a ground floor pitch roof and took me ages to get back up again, The lady even passed me a cuppa through her bedroom window to see if that would help  ;D ;D

Problem I find with these is, if you put your brush anywhere near them it loads your brush with muck wich then gets applied to the next window you try to clean and you then have to apply a ton of water to rinse it all off. So I usually keep a separate cloth about my person to wipe these with

I tend to wear a trad tool belt & pouches so I've got stuff handy already on me.
I found out the other week that an empty boab makes a good man wee pee too whilst pretending to look for something inside the van leaning in on the open side loading door   ;D ;D

I find this as well. I think I'll go the cloth route ... and wipe out the muck before cleaning.

I found out recently that a cobweb brush works really well to quickly wipe around frames, sills etc before cleaning.
Not only that you can charge extra by offering customers a cobweb removal service too.

But the cobwebs are removed when cleaning the frames with your wfp brush  ???
