Will this do the job?

Respects
I'd be worried by the words
"These lamps are not very strong when using them to highlight whites. If you require a true Blacklight Blue lamp please refer to the related products below."
Most cheap 'blacklights' require the room to be absolutely dark before they are any good.
Have a look at the posts, they may be of help
urine detection
uv chad
deal with pet urine

Get one of Russ Chad's. Brilliant lights. He'll have some at TACCA.

Urine detectors, amazing up sell potential
Just shine it on a carpet that you aren’t cleaning and you may just get an extra carpets thrown on top. This year TACCA member Russ Chadd will be bringing a limited amount of custom built UV torch kits. The "UKProFire15" is an extremely powerful 15 watt, five CREE LED torch measuring a whopping 11 inches in length, the kit will include a top of the range digital charger which displays each battery's charge status, voltage and capacity, plus a pair of UV safety goggles. This torch can be used for bodily fluid detection and for accelerating oxidising products for stain removal. See Paul Pearce demo this monster on the day Normal price £220 - TACCA day price £180. He will also be bringing a limited amount of the more compact 3 watt torch kits with a special TACCA price of only £90.

That "Beast" 100 LED UV torch uses the regular, low power LED's... old technology.
Looking at the spec it uses x6 AA batteries, i doubt very much it can output 18 watt!

If you can hang on until the TACCA  meeting, Paul Pearce will be demoing one of my new 15 watt models... worth a look

pfest 2016.

How do you get into a conversation with a client about whether they might have urine stained carpets?, and then pull out one of these contraptions?

I can see the up sell potential, but not the scenario on a job..

Or do you do it as part of a home visit /quotation?

Trouble with UV light is it doesnt just show up urine  - it may show up things you can't clean out of the carpet

When you arrive at the customers home you would do the obvious inspection to determine the carpet type, condition and size of the rooms etc... Part of this inspection should also involve using a UV torch, especially if the client has pets or the previous owner / tenant had pets.
Cat urine literately glows under ultra violet light and when the customer sees this they will no doubt want you to deal with the contamination which should be charged as an extra seeing as it requires you to spend more time and use additional chemicals separate to the clean.
Speak to anyone who has a good quality UV torch and they will freely admit that it will help to up sell

Or do you do it as part of a home visit /quotation?

Thanks Russ,

So kind of up selling and scare mongering at the same time.........

Surely this sort of tactic would lead to people wanting to simply replace the carpet?

Has this happened to anyone using one?
