How much
« on: May 11, 2016, 05:36:33 pm »
Okay, this is Basingstoke, and I've been asked by a friend for a price for the conservatory in the picture. Insides and out, the lot, including roof inside.

I asked her to send me over a few pictures even though recently Ive erred on the side of caution when it comes to working for friends, so I put in a regular price of £220.00 for this.

Anyway, I didn't get it, based on the price, some conservatory cleaning company that hasn't even looked at it have given her a price for insides and outs, a separate price for insides and a separate price for outsides only. What do you reckon are those prices?

If it's a company that JUSTS cleans conservatories it will be expensive I assume. £300 outside & £200 inside.

Well as its a friend then I assume your price would have been slightly lower than usual and the fact you didn't get it
means somebody is doing it for peanuts, so I would guess £100 for the lot.

£105.00.  Is what they have said for everything, including inside roof. Just insides would be £80.00 whilst all the outsides would be £50.00.

Crazy money.

I would normally visit the property to price a conservatory and probably look to secure it at something like £220-£250.00

You get what you pay for as they say and I suspect your friend will figure that one out soon enough.

I would have also mentioned the roof is self cleaning glass too. Good init  ;D ;D

Yup. I really couldn't be arsed trying to explain it all away, I just said 'okay, you'll be going with that one then'. She should've tried Thomas Sanderson ;)

My friend had hers done in and out by someone who works for a conservatory cleaning company for £70. Apparently he uses a machine. I wasn't sufficiently interested to enquire further.

There are some very desperate window cleaners about at the minute a bloke round by me is pushing inside roof cleans and is doing in and out and windows for around £100-£110.He was telling me he did one this week roof in and out gutters, fascias, soffits and window for £160  :o
Had one Friday try to undercut me on a restaurant offering to do it for half my price.
some really are happy to work for peanuts.

Am I looking at the right picture  ???
That's  a two hour job if they move all the crap out the way, 3 hours if you happen to be a slacker. Still even then, £150 tops.

What has how long it takes got to do with the price?
As we are talking an inside and outside deep clean (full conservatory valet) surely you would want to charge a wee bit more that 150  ???

no its not.thats  4 hours work if you want to do a good job including setting up and packing away INSIDE AND OUT.i want to earn £50-£60 an hour on add ons so £200-£250 is about right IMO.

price higher/work harder!

It amazes how some you make out that it's such a big job, full valet, back breaking labour..... Just to justify charging ridiculous prices.

Let's put it in to perspective, that conservatory is not that big, from the pictures it is not that dirty.
I would do the lot in approx 3 1/2 hours and happily take £170 for it and most likely get repeat custom. Yes Papa smurf that's a full valet, I.e iv cleaned the sh!t out of it.
Smurf do you go all Thomas Sanderson on it, hand polishing all the whites? Greasing up hinges? Cleaning all the openers? Treating the glass?
Didn't think so, you clean it no differently to anyone else here...

4 hours you gotta be kidding me ! and you've been in this game a long time.
Yes £50 an hour, so that's why I said £150.
