Very well done.
Were you a runner before the injury?
Hi,
No I wasn't much of a runner beforehand. More into my mountain biking. I tend to keep fit anyway down the gym and the jobs a physical one too which helps.
The thing is, when i broke my ankle i had no choice but to sit down and think. not much else to do when your house bound. i knew that i might not follow through on all the physio stretches etc when the cast came off and i would just go back to work. so by signing up to something like the marathon, it made me get better, made me do all the tendon stretches etc and gave me a positive goal to aim for. now that the dust has settled i can look back on the whole experience an smile. its been really hard work but my ankle is back to normal, full range of movement and strength too.
i will try to maintain my new level of fitness though, Ive just entered the ballot for next years marathon and plan on doing a few halfs here and there too.
