10 years ago we did a leather cleaning course (IICRC) with Andy Alcock and Steve Poulos down at Hydramaster.
Up until that point we had never cleaned leather before but the course gave us the confidence to then offer that service.
We never had a go at restoring repairing and re-colouring leather just cleaned it we have always wanted to go to the next stage so booked the 3 of us on the 3 day leather technician’s course at LTT with Judy Bass.
There were 8 of us on the course 4 of us from the carpets cleaning industry some from the aviation industry and from furniture restoration. We had one who came from Indonesia.
We learned about the different types of the leather the tanning process how to use a microscope what to use to clean different types of leather how to mix colours removing grease from head areas repairing minor scuffs scratches holes and cuts.
Was the course worth it a most definite yes?
They looked after us so well we were fed and watered on the 3 days and it was good the see the beautiful county of Yorkshire.

Hi Ray,

Nice meeting you guys on the course and i can only subscribe to all of the above.

Great course and great instructor, can't wait to get my LTT kit and play a bit more.

You also forgot to mention the most important lesson you've learned and that is don't mess with the alcohol cleaner when it comes to ink removal go heavy with your favourite R3  ;D

Hi Liviu

It was good to put a face to a name.

Jackie was on facebook after we got back from the course and found a 2 +3 seater wax pull up sofa it has a lot of damage and also some areas of grease.

We took it apart it all unbolts the arm separate and stripped the leather of it and will now practice doing a recolor and correct some off the other problems with it.

Will try testing some of the products we bought.
