Yacht varnish! Fairly self explanatory about its waterproofing ability...

Get a Chinese guy to paint it for you and ask him if he thinks it's a lovely job. Problem solved....
On a serious note, give pure freedom window guys a call and ask what they coat their vans with

I lay a sheet of tarpaulin and then a carpet on top. Done all my vans like that, works perfect water never been an issue.

I just used varnish too. It is fine. If you want to be a cheapskate (like me) why not experiment with painting it and then sprinkling on something gritty, coarse sand perhaps? It'll end up like that Altroseal stuff.
Just a thought.

Hi I'm off the window cleaning section, I've used protectacote, this will give a rubbery effect finish that is waterproof will cost approx £80 to do a van the downside. Is its horrible to use, will ruin any clothing it touches, and smells terrible ,other that it's ok

Did my old van in protecta Kote, then sold it a few months later, worked well tho. If the new one didn't have a giant plastic liner in I would use it again. About 90 for the kit delivered

Get it speed lined. Completely water proof and can hit it with a hammer. Costs more but well worth it. Totally protected my van and i can literally hose it out, even jet washed it today.

Speed line and Line x are the best but cost a bit, well worth it though. Protectakote is a good second best at much lower price.

One of our customers used Bitumen paint. One of his sprayers leaked and it emulsified the bitumen. All his kit was covered in the stuff and he had to replace a lot of it.
