how much for stairs
« on: April 14, 2016, 11:33:32 pm »
How much do you get for a single flight of stairs? I get £30 and people keep saying it's cheap, so i need to put it up but not sure how far to go.

Normal sized steps I charge £3 each if they are extra large or those corner ones I double it. If they have a small landing in amongst the steps I measure it and charge normal rate.
An avg set of stairs is £39, but I do hate stairs.

£75, they take longer than a living room  so should be priced accordingly

"HSL, £120 plus vat"

Do you get this price with quoting over the phone or do you go to the property to price in person?

You mean people pay £144 for domestic bog standard hsl.
Impossible done straight away, miracles can take a little longer.

Nice work if you can get it. I'd expect my full house cleaned for less than that.

£144 for an hours work? Really.

That's the kind of price you charge when you never want to clean any stairs.

HSL on its own £50

HSL when quoted as part of a job could be as little as 20

this morning i did lounge, diner and hsl for £60.

cheap? yes perhaps, but only took an hour and half from pulling up to driving away and thats including cleaning her windows

So let me get this right, £144 for 13 steps and risers?

Mike is charging £75 for the same?

Are we talking stairs only?

Are we saying minimum charge or is that what the cleaning comes to without mentioning min charge or call out?

Wayne you need to up your prices you're too good to charge less then that for a full house.

Standard hall stairs and landing... Stairs to be fair are the trickiest  to clean and clean properly so why not charge a premium..?

HSL in a 3 bed semi takes about 30mins, funny enough I rarely clean a HSL by its self usually it's part of a bigger job. The Through lounge etc....... which once the TM is set up takes an extra 15 minutes, so. You can do the full job in less than an hour so £75 each makes an easy £150, although I will drop the price by £20 when both get done and it's an easy job.

Just to set the cat amongst the pigeons.......................

I have had a kitchen fitted by a multi skilled guy.He has plastered.plumbed and fitted the kitchen to a great standard. He has charged me £200  a day.

As I have said earlier if you can get your prices good luck, but in reality why would anyone pay £144 for an hours work for what in most cases is a simple job.

Does anyone think that over pricing  can have an adverse effect just as much as under charging?

Do you not often wonder why some will get a Rug Doctor.

Good luck to you if you can get £144 for that!

Just out of interest what is your average job conversion rate?

With that mind set you might as well stick to the lower prices.

That's not an insult by the way. But if you don't truly believe you are worth more then your not going to have the ability to persuade the customer that your worth more.
