How much do you pay?
« on: April 13, 2016, 08:35:31 am »
My accountant has put his monthly bill up to £63.60 a month.
That's with 3 employees.

Just curious  what everyone else is paying?

I would have thought that this was a more appropriate question to post on a business Forum from a top businessman like yourself rather than ask sole trading lowlifes on a window cleaning forum young James?

So what do you get for £63.60 per month? I do all my own accounting since I don't employ but I would use an accountant if I did employ.

He saves about £50 a month on his tax bill.
Same here I do my own, at worst I pay a little more tax than I should have and at best I save the price of an accountant,
can understand an employer having one though as your going to have a lot more expense than £3 to £4k a year.

Accountant prices change according to industry.

There are not many window cleaners on business forums old Chris, so it wouldn't of been the correct information.

That is for everything. I don't mind paying it, it's just he keeps putting the price up.

We still need to save money where we can.

Don't you have any accountants as customers who could do you a good deal?
I clean several accountants windows, a couple have offered me very good rates but I prefer to do them myself. With cleaner planner it's dead easy.

It's a bit more than ours but we use Brightpay for our PAYE.  Free for us but it'd be £89 for you due to number of employees.  Terrific bit of software, takes about two or three minutes to do two (wife and my) payrolls each month.  When I had the Joey working for me last summer, his payroll took about two minutes a week.

I use a chartered accountant but going to do them myself from now on. Last year he charged me £500 and this year £606 complete rip off considering I'm a one man band.

Seriously Tom, that is well over the top. We pay £450 a year for a limited company return. We do our own payroll and tax returns though. If you aren't limited, that's outrageous and highly unlikely to be worth unless hey manage to find about £10,000 in savings which is unimaginable.

I am limited and it includes everything, I just send them my receipts/invoices and bank statements and that's it. Seriously I wouldn't pay it if it wasn't beneficial, not only do they save me a lot of money but I get a lot of advice as well.  Just on Monday I was emailed a document that would have cost me at least £1k if I were to purchase it.

Don't you use Aworka or somesuch? There's really nothing for the accountant to do other than an end of year account if you do. I seriously doubt it's more than 3-4 hours work.
