Nilfisk vac motors
« on: April 06, 2016, 05:58:35 pm »
Hi all

anyone know if there is a replacement vac motor for the UZ 964 hip vac - mine gets super hot and must be on way out - I think it is Ametek/Lamb - can seem to find it as such on their us site and been told the hip vac itself is now discontinued - but they must still be some stock of the vac motor out there somewhere

cheers

Might be worth buying 2nd hand ex demo machine from A3 Machines Ltd.  Probably cheaper in the end

Doubt it would be exclusive to one machine so should be available somewhere. Have you got model number or take dimensions, full height, motor height, motor diameter, fan diameter photo would be handy as well.

John/David/EC  and others thanks - yes I had found the parts list but the P140 8077 500  230/240v motor just seems to be a nilfisk part no. not a Ametek - when I get the right head to open the damn thing it may have an ametek part number on the fan casing - and as john says it cant just have been put in this one machine - but none of the usual suspects have one on their shelves when I give them the UZ964 model as I think it as a model has been discontinued - may be just cheaper to buy another working hip vac

Just wondered if someone had the same problem - the product number is 9052423010 and it is a 700w so prob is the same as P140 8077 500

David

The UZ 964 is equipped with a thermal cut-out to protect the motor and other vital parts from overheating.  Maybe this part is faulty on yours and the motor doesn't need changing

thanks EC - I opened it and am none the wiser as there is nothing on the fan casing but as you say there is a possible  thermal cutout - is it the green plastic thing between the black and the red wires?  there's not much else in there so it has to be that no?

Strange there is no model number on the vac - just a yellow label saying Terra with the earth symbol so maybe Spanish/Mexican ametek maybe - will try to post pics below

yup , bypass capacitor mainly for noise suppression.
could be the brushes worn ,  the metal thing sticking out contains them .

ah its that all things electric man JM - thanks mate for your answer but if I can't find out which motor it is how can I get the new brushes ordered? - puzzled am I!

This part number from Nilfisk:  P140 8077 500 Fan unit 230-240V,  700W

Does that help me with getting a replacement motor from ametec/wcs ?

cheers

doesn't look short worn anyway , you would need  see if its making contact with the commutator when its in place or is there a small gap .

no it stopped (mid flow) now wont turn on at all and there is a suspicious brown ring mark at the top of the plastic housing no other signs of super heat tho

Maybe some of the videos here might help

Just found a similar looking motor here for a nilfisk with the same site listing a 1200 watt ametec here
also an ametec  generic motor which fits the uz934

scrub vac also list the 700 watt motor. Product Description 1471120500 Nilfisk UZ964 FAN UNIT KIT 700W 230-240 and a snip at £94.13 !

Any of these motors should fit as they are a standard size and your machine should have the same mounting bracket and condenser so as to be to be easily interchanged if you have an ametec as shown in your photo.

Otherwise this one on ebay is at £60

Thanks David and John
yes I am sure I would probably save time and effort by just buying a newer one that already works and take a chance again - yes the scrub vac option is expensive tho - I may just go for that generic one on the ASW site - in fact looking at it I may have one of these in my machine and not an ametek one - despite searching I could not find any of these options so thanks

the ebay one will go for 100+ I think i'll watch it tho

cheers
