Runs/spotting on Aluminium window frames
« on: April 02, 2016, 02:23:59 pm »
As the title says! I have a commercial contract with aluminium windows on 2nd story with no real access for traditional cleaning. I'm getting spotting along the top of the frames. Using pencil jets and been rinsing like crazy but can't seem to stop it happening any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Phil

I personally never clean the frames if they're aluminium, or if you have to clean the frames, go back around and clean the glass only.

Sometimes Windows just spot no matter what you do with them, sometimes you just need to blade em but I never would do that at height I would get them as good as I could by poling  them.

Thanks Lads,
Brand new windows, so would you recommend a low flow and just clean the glass ?

I would never recommend a low flow rate when finishing off hold the brush up against the top frame and rinse that bit on.

The new ali windows are powder coated and you won't have the problem some are talking about ie oxidising that's caused when they degenerate over years, the main problem with them is the glass is not boxed in like is in on general PVC they are flush with the glass,I wouldn't clean the frames I would stay away from the frames.

Keep the brush on the glass. Tilt it to one side so the glass is supporting the brush head then rinse to the edge of the glass with the side that's lifted off.

You've got to avoid that top frame you have to be mega accurate. I bet you get no trouble on the ground floor where you can see the rinse. It could even be the water not getting to the edge where you are worried about the frames. I have a similar job and the results were shocking for the top couple of inches, I was scrubbing up to the frame but not rinsing to the edge.
