Dirty Render
« on: March 31, 2016, 06:22:02 pm »
Commercial job I've got is blocks of flats with render stains. I haven't been asked to clean the marks off but as I'm a perfectionist I probably will tidy it up. I'm thinking of giving the brush a squirt of mould killer and brushing it over. What do you reckon?

If you haven't been asked to clean the marks off why even bother?

That's the way I am - can't bear to look at that every time I clean the window. It's a mess.

Why not mention them and if they ask put in a price to clean them all then instead of wanting to do it for free  ???
How many are you talking about that need cleaning and at what height as you say they are blocks of flats?

You don't really want to use high pressure on soft sandstone as can damaged the substrate very easaly.
it seems the norm now for the big boys to use low pressure and superheated water/steam.

They also use that method for cleaning K Rend too

Dampen it down
Spray Hypo , leave it 5 to 10 mins and then wash off

Simple ..

I did it similiar to this on a large property , fairly size stains on render and it looks very clean now .
It's been 12 months and hasn't come back .

Funny enough I treated the rear wall of a park home yesterday that the render had gone green mostly at the bottom of the wall.
Took less than 15 mins from start to finish and I charged £55. Customer was very please with the results too.

When dealing with any chem it's best you know what you are doing and more importanly you are insured properly should something go wrong.

Your public liability cover should also include in this list of activities you are insured to do.
•Damage to Property Being Worked Upon
•Treatment Risks (for damage caused by cleaning solutions or chemicals)

If not you are leaving yourself wide open should something go wrong

Were do you get this Hypo from? Aren't there two different Hypos?
I only want a squirt on the brush now and again don't want to treat the whole side of a house.
Is it just bleach?

Hi Dave  I recently purchased 20litres of 15%  hypo of eBay for about £25 inc delivery, just put in the search bar sodium hypochlorite, I used it to clean my Indian sand stone patio, worked  a treat, but be careful of over spray as its kills any plant life, and stains your clothes
