Hi all.

Finally got my backpack! now im looking at getting the attachments to convert the backpack hose to conect to my pole.

Brett i remember you opened a thred for me a while back (and Tosh i know you use a backpack) what bits did you buy Brett and where did you get them from?

i dont have a battery type

i use a hand pumped type for the odd window (up loads of steps etc etc)

i just cut the end of the hose and connected a hozelock attachment

i am sure other will have a different way, if they do, i will include it on the DIY site

this is what i did with mine

unscrewed the lance then screwed a male connector on the thread then get 2 female connectors with a little piece of hose approx 6" attach both female connectors one on each end of the hose.  This allows you to connect your backpack into one end and your pole into the other end, you can get all connectors needed from any garden center or any diy shop, if i remember right tosh did his different to mine

Its really very easy once youve got all the bits needed in front of you

I will keep you all informed. Ive also made a website (only a small one) but I'm having issues uploading it at the moment - when Ive done this (next week I guess) I'll publish details on here for everyones abuse as to how bad it is.... - ha ha ha no hopefully people will like it...

My backpack is a Schurflo and was supplied by Williamson Pumps with the pole conversion already done(up to the grey fitting), all I have added is the 2 Hozelock fittings and short peice of hose. WFP plugs straight in and 'Bobby is yer Uncle'

what are the 2 brass bits? normal male brass conectors?

did you get all the connectors @ b&Q? if so what did they cost £10-£15 for all 4?

i bought some hozelok bits but ive had to take them back - turns out the backpack comes in 6mm and 8mm hoze varients!

and id rather keep the backpack hose handle and unscrew the lance anyway (i.e. rather not cut the black hose from the lance and handle totally if you see what i mean)

I cut the black hose, attached a female hoselock fitting and just plug and un-plug the male attachement when I want to move the back pack.

It's simple and it works.

I think it works for me because I use an Unger Pole with Ionics hose.  The hose is outside the pole; giving you extra reach for your hose length; and because the hose is top quality, it's easy to 'nip' to stop your water flow when you want to.

In my opinion, an Unger Pole and Ionics hose were made for the backpack.

The pole is really light too; you only require the first two sections for most first floor work; much lighter than an 18ft fibre glass pole.

I notice you leave the handle/switch for the lance on can this be locked in the open position so you can hold your pole with both hands when working?

Yes.

When you press the handle you can slide a button forward with your thumb to lock it open.
