So i have got about 10 oven cleans under my belt and no issues until today.

Used Vanquish on the oven door, and the sides have striped off of the black paint.

I appologised to customer and said i will go back to correct, how should i fix it.

What kind of paint should i use, or would spray paint be better?  Should i strip all the paint off with paint stripper and redo it all so it looks even.

Hi John, yes that product has a very high % of sodium hydroxide and needs to be used with extreme caution, all you can do now is to deep clean the black damaged paint as best you can let it dry and then use a heat resistant black paint probably best to apply two coats, if your customer is not happy with the results you may have to replace the door.
you should have no problems in sourcing an aerosol can of black heat resistant paint, just google heat resistant spray paint. Tadgh

Ok.  I have seen an aerosol at screwfix, heat proof one.  Hopefully it turns out ok

John there is no earthly reason to use Vanquish. Its the worst possible way to clean an oven and as you can see this is just one reason why.
If you carry on using it this will be the first in a long line of damaged ovens, floors, worktops.....and you. Its not worth it, there are safer, quicker ways.

Just bought a  new outer door with glass about £100

Bite the bullet and buy a new door is what I would do.
I would not mess about trying to spray it as the customer still may not be that impressed  with the cockup and any bodged repair.

Have to agree with the above, keeps a good reputation and shows professionalism, people do talk.
Did you do any training before you started offering oven cleaning? If so, this should have been avoided.
See if you can buy the door without the inner glass, shouldn't be much more than you charged for the clean.

Just proves again the detrimental damage that these harsh and aggressive cleaning chemicals can cause, especially ones which contain a high % of sodium hydroxide or a high % of sodium hypochlorite, they really do need to be used with extreme care, or to err on the side of caution ask your janitorial supplier for safer alternatives.

You'll probably need to buy the door with the glass....I tried to buy the glass w/o the door for my own oven (don't ask) and couldn't.
