Soft wash
« on: March 14, 2016, 07:04:13 pm »
Has anyone got the fitting from Gardeners for soft wash. Can anyone tell me more about this fitting and what fits on it. Also in general about soft wash.

I'm interested in the product but no one seems to know anything about it as in what connections you use with it etc.  Is Alex on holidays or gone missing?

I guess you screw a 1/4" male threaded nozzle in one end and 1/4 " male threaded barb in the other to connect to your hose and then push fit inside the number 2 section of the pole ( number 1 removed )  ???

If you want to use it on a higher bar for pressure washing then all you do is buy and fit the correct pressure washer fittings and hose to turn it into a telescopic pressure washer lance as in the vid I posted. The guy in the vid uses a very expensive falch hot water (wet steam) trailer mounted system.

The reason why no 1 section is removed is because it will not fit otherwise or the pressure washer hose and couplings inside. Also if somehow you managed to rig something up using the no 1 section aswell it would be too wippy to use at high pressure.

Same goes if you wanted to use it as a softwash high volume, low pressure pole as you need the space inside the pole to fit a larger hose and couplings.

My only concern is what metal it's made from as if using say a strong bleach mix will it last very long.

Thanks for confirming my thoughts Smurf, the top section of the fitting has a flanged lip to it so it fits snugly inside the number 2 section of the pole.

Thanks guys, I would have thought that using it with a pressure washer would have made it very whippy

I just had another look at it on Gardiners  website and understand it now. Looks like a handy tool, maybe add a 45 degree bend and it could be very useful.

For bleach mix would be better to have it made from reinforced polypropylene as stainless steel would be too heavy

I have old poles made up for spraying the gutters using adjustable sprayer nozzles from garden back pack sprayers. We have a reel mounted  in the van with enough hose to go around most houses  fed by a shurflo pump drawing off of a 25ltr drum of chemical. Same as the window cleaning set up. I thought this would be handy for applying SH but it wouldn't last long, would be good for rinsing with the p.w. though
