Not to sure on the ultimate to be honest. Arrived today so cleaned my own windows. Just feels so flimsy, alot like using an extreme.
I'm not a fan of soft bristles, I like to feel the brush scrubbing but it felt like I was mopping the windows.
It splayed weirdly, half the bristles went left half went right, leaving a gap in the middle of the brush.
The xline bristles splay forward, with the inner bristles filling in the gaps on the outer rows, I like that.
It also has far less bristles then xline, which I accept is the only to get the weight down, but I like a bit of bush ;)
Obviously the weight is good on the ultimate but iv never had an issue with the weight of an xline.
I have an issue where the lighter the brush I use, the harder and more aggressive I seem to clean with them, quickly destroying them in the process.

Think il stick with xline, it cleans great, it splays beautifully, it can take a beating and the weight is fine.

Anyone near me want a brand new ultimate, £20 collection only (Gu11 postcode).

Anyone tried them on Snail trails yet? I haven't found anything that beats the Xline yet. There are nicer brushes than the Xline but not better. ...................yet.

I think someone has been asked to plug the Xline over the Ultimate, the new ultimate is a better brush but as I said it's the first one to be released the other ones to follow are fantastic brushes, this first one is a very good brush for those who liked the extreme medium mixed and the standard super lite brush. The flocked and the other mono brushes to follow are superior to any other brush that's been produced for cleaning power weight and quality, the Xline although a good brush is a heavy brush the ultimates don't feel anywhere near as heavy.

I could say the same about you :)
Not long ago you were singing the praises of the xline, now the ultimate is king.
Maybe you've been won over with a few free brushes?
Still waiting on my freebies from xline :D

Apart from the slight weight difference, the xline is easily the better brush IMO.

With that said, I'm only basing my opinion on the medium/soft ultimate, the medium or flocked may be another animal entirely so I will reserve my full judgement until iv tried those 2 brushes.
I do like alot of Gardiner's brushes with the medium or hybrid bristles, they just were not hard wearing enough for me.

I have absolutely nothing to gain from plugging Xline whatsoever. They don't offer me any favours. I have been using a different Gardiners brush all week (which I quite like) However, it wouldn't touch some snail/slug trails today so the Xline went back on which is why I wondered how you lot were getting on. Come the spring when the snails really get moving I'll be interested to see how they perform and which Ultimate is the best. Of course the Xline really should be up against a Superlight I think.

Alex, if you're reading can you let me know when you expect the medium in stock? Cheers

I'm surprised to say the least about that Chris.
Mine isn't at all flimsy, it splays lovely, is "considerably" lighter than the Xline- in fact the Xline is positively brick-like in comparison!!  I think you may be applying too much pressure now you are used to the Xline, ease off a little and I think you will find it much better. For me the outer bristles of the Xline are pretty useless, the inner scrubs well but the orange outer bristles are not very effective- it's an ok brush especially for an "off the shelf" (WCW is the same brush) but the Ultimate is streets ahead IMO. I only use Xtremes these days for very high work as I find they struggle a bit with everyday work (spiders nest etc) but this Ultimate will do it all for me. The Ultimate is nothing like an xtreme, it is based on the SL stock and has far more bristles.

Always good to have choice .

No it doesn't matter.  You just waste time.

Would you use a sill brush on windows without any sills on a 50ft commercial job.....?

Agreed. For maintenance cleaning any brush will do, so it might as well be a light one.

I disagree, if any brush would do then this thread along with a good percentage of this forum section wouldn't exist.

A "good/poor brush" can add or subtract £25 to a day's work.
It's a game of three halves!

Personally I think Gardiners new compact brush looks more interesting as the bristles are designed to hold their shape better so it should scrub better. The weight will be only a little less than the superlight brush so I assume it will have more bristles than the ultimate.

This brush has not been released nor unfortunately have I got one to trial.

Looking at the picture of the ultimate it has far fewer bristles than the xline so for the time being I will stick with xline because I know it scrubs well.

It's just cleaning windows. For minging first cleans a heavy, stiff brush is quicker, for normal cleaning I can't see why anyone would want a heavy brush.

To me personally the brush is very important the weight the way it is on the glass and in general how easy it is to use,I think the main reason for this is because there a so few good brushes out there for sale at the moment. I have amassed a huge amount of them over the years I tried almost every one and I must admit the 4-5 ultimate brushes that will be available soon are the best I've used for weight-results-time needed on the window to do a very good job, there will be a flocked and 2 other mono brushes coming at some point and if someone said to me you will only be able to use these brushes for of the remainder of the time you clean windows I would be more than happy with that. The one on sale at the moment I found to be very good on Georgion Windows and general PVC smooth glass, the flocked brush to be released could literally be used to clean everything if you wanted it's superb on leads ie no jumping first cleans Georgians and normal PVC Windows it's a one brush does all, myself I prefer most of the time to rinse on so tend to change from job to job but if someone wanted 1 brush to clean all there work and they had a mixture of lead Georgians etc the single flocked would be my recommendation.

Well said 8 Weekly, I have been trying the Gardiner supreme over this last few weeks and I would be lying if I didn't say
it does have more grip on the glass so I would then associate that with more scrubbing power, is it really needed for the
job at hand ? well for me the answer would be no as I get just as good a clean and I'm every bit as quick using an Xtreme brush.
I honestly think some people actually go out of their way to make this job a lot harder than it needs to be but then its all
extra cash in the pockets of equipment sellers.
Dave Willis when scrubbing snail trails do it in a circular motion and they will come off very quickly and easily with any brush.

Hot water is the answer on snail trails yeah it may come off slightly quicker cleaning it a different way but the answer with all stubborn stuff on glass like the above birds mess bee spots is hot water and a medium bristle brush, anyone complaining of not being able to shift that must be a cold user.

I don't know NWH, the guys who complain about not being able to clean with cold still complain when using hot
they still complain when using hot and additives and after trying every brush on the market they still complain that they
aren't getting perfect results. ;D
