Oven cleaning.
« on: February 29, 2016, 09:18:59 pm »
Hi all, I am a window cleaner by trade but my friend is an oven cleaner, currently he is paying the guy he is working for 55% plus £300 van lease!
I am thinking of setting him up on his own, converting the van, taking the pure water system out and putting the oven cleaning unit in it, has anyone got a clue how much this would cost me to do?
Getting him started with advertising etc is something I'll get on to.

I'll be getting a bigger van to carry on window cleaning by the way.

Depends on what kind of dip tank you want to put in gas or electric

What type of tank does the guy use now ?

Gas I think. I looked before I posted but prices seem to range from £600-£3,000!

Sounds like he's doing a lot of hard work for not a lot in return. A good day would be £200, 55% to (the guy who's robbing him), sorry, the guy who he's working for!! Why would you pay somebody for working for them! Then £15 a day for the van lease!!!
So he comes out with £80 a day at best, does he have to pay for fuel and chemicals as well.
Think I need to rethink my business model.

What van is it? Keep the system in the van and add oven cleaning, you can do both from one van, that way he can help you with windows when busy and do ovens as you build it. Target your customers first, you'll be amazed how many will use you for both services.

Good luck.

Cheers. My van is a Peugeot Partner, I am too busy to do both, I thought I'd set him up in mine, sort him work through advertising, website, my customers etc then just take the lease of my new van off him whilst we build it up, after6 months to a year, start taking a percentage.

Yes, he pays it all, the guy is properly ripping him off, he is beginning to resent the guy he's working for.....I wonder why.

Hi Mark

I meant go ahead with your new van but keep the system in the Peugeot. You can then carry on with your work, use him for overflow and bigger jobs while you build the oven cleaning side. Keep the system in the Peugeot, depending on tank size, but you should be able to do both from that van, I ran a Vauxhall combo for a while doing both oven and window cleaning.

It works out about 50/50. Could increase both with extra marketing but not looking to expand or employ, happy the way things are.
