Gents,
Need some advice please.
Got a customer who is refusing to pay me and has now moved all I have is a mobile number for them.
They have text me saying if you want paying take me to court...!!
What can I do

How much do they owe you? If it's a small amount it's not worth the hassle IMO.

Compare how much they owe you against half a weekday if you take them to court and they contest the case.  Add in the time to find an address for them.

If that effort's worth it for the money, chase them.  If not, write it off.

Would agree with the above. Most of my prices are in the £8-£15 bracket. I never do them more than twice without getting money for them. That way if anyone does the dirty on me I don't lose too much. It seems to be in the mentality of some to get away with it if they can. Others get in a panic if they owe me money for more than a few days and call me to find out if I'm alright. I probably lose about £100 a year through people moving away without clearing debts etc. It's a pain but often there's not too much you can do about it without wasting a lot of time, and sadly they know it.

For someone to text saying saying "if you want paying take me to court" seems very odd to me and I don't think you a telling the full story surely?

I've never had anyone refuse to pay so either they have some sort of geniune greevence with you whatever that might be or are the type that tries it on to get out of paying for whatever reasons they may have .

Was it a one-off clean or so say regular clean?
If a regular clean how many months did you let the debt accumulate and how much are we talking about here?

Best keep the text as is proof they owe you money and then you could text back saying something like they have 7 days to settle the amount outstanding in full or the debt will be passed over to a debt recovery agency which then will incur extra charges.

If you have their name and address or former address i would think you have a very good case, especially since they dropped themselves in it with the text.

Yes it will cost you £25 to file and time off if they contest it to attend court but you will be able to claim the loss of earnings back.
Depends how much you hate them and how bad you want to get even. Drop it or file a claim its up to you , if they were that cocky id do everything i could to get even, horrible MODDED.

If someone doesn't pay, I fill a water balloon up with some gutter sludge in me gutter vac and giv them some dirt back 👍

Yesterday I had the sister of a non-payer ask me on her behalf if I could clean her windows. I gave the sister my phone number, and 2 minutes later the non-payer was on the phone to me, asking me (as if nothing had ever happened) if I could come up to clean her windows (I was working a few doors up from her).

I politely reminded of her failure to pay me previously. No apology or offer to pay from her,  she even asked when I am next around. She sees me every time I am there (monthly).

It now really amuses me that she clearly was going to try and have me over again (I am certain she would have made another excuse not to pay) but I won't play! Taking the previous hit is almost worth it!

keep and store txt messages between you and customer,this can be used as evidence in some cases of non payment.

My advice;
They probably also haven't paid the rent, the gas and electric, the car repayments, etc, so I doubt you will get anything back. Next thing they go insolvent and offer to pay their creditors a pittance a month with most written off.

Write it off and don't take it personally. Letting it grind you effects your health, not theirs.

I have a new customer who ignored Face book message and text message to pay first payment of £10. Knocked on door, guy asked his wife if she hadn't paid yet. I will knock one more time then PAYBACK. I don't like being screwed
