Anyone want a rug-dusting grid?
« on: February 23, 2016, 08:22:18 am »
You know the type - metal roll-up, like Dusty Roberts sells. We've found someone in China making them (they're made to construct chimneys, or something), selling at £150 each for 8' x 6' (cheap compared to Dusty Roberts), but minimum shipping is £350. It may be that would pay for shipping more than we want, we're checking.

Anyone want to split the shipping cost? There's going to be VAT & import duty when they're imported.

OK, all, will do, when we get them.

Also trying to find specs - If anyone knows, or can get, the detailed specs from Dusty Roberts - thickness of metal, etc, grid size, that would be helpful.  We've had a comment on CT that the chinese one looks rough - it doesn't to me, and I'll post a pic when I find it.

Bear with me, we're talking to a chinese company with poor english skills, and trying to work out what other costs are involved, when we have no experience of importing, and we don't have a lot of office time scheduled!

Here's some pics from the chinese manufacturer. we're still trying to understand whether they are exactly like Dusty Roberts' ones - what do people think?

They are made for construction of chimneys, apparently. Don't know exactly how you construct a chimney with them, but hey..

I am in as well.

I wonder sometimes what other product we use have just adapted from another industry.

Just take 2 sticky tabs were they just for carpet cleaners or did have another use before. Poly blocks is another one.

Just to keep people up to date, for the time-being we're trying these

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/220890667136

as suggested by someone on CT. £60 for a 6 sqm grid. May as well try.  Rug Duster on order.

We'll see how we get on - I think the metal ones would be nicer, but it may take us some time to go to the bother of importing some.

I started with these but it becomes a pain lifting them all the time to clean out underneath.

It was suggested to screw them together with self tappers but I dont have the luxury of being able to leave the grid down for any length of time.

We currently use large 2m x 2m anti fatigue matting which makes set up and take down faster but I think a roll up grid would be the perfect solution.
