So here I am reading gransnet.com and looking at prices across the uk.

Someone charges £3!! most are £5 , its funny though reading customers comments about ' my window cleaner uses a power wash machine with demineralised water'
Prices are shocking , very low, I wonder how some windys afford to eat

I don't think that's the norm Shrek, I wouldn't work in the best place for high prices and there are none that I know off
in my area who would be as low as that.
You might get a few on the double who come and go but this will be for a quick fix of cash and not full time.

What I have noticed lately is that the younger generation have either no interest in getting their windows cleaned
or are looking them done for nothing.
Iv lost 4 good customers lately to moves and the younger ones that have replaced them all show this tendency, it leaves
room for the under cutters to get a foothold which is never a good thing for window cleaning in any area.

To be honest iv found the opposite, the new buyers / younger ones are nearly jumping with excitement when I say £15 for a semi , sometimes I walk away scratching my head thinking- am I too cheap?!

I find this quite often too. They comment 'oh is that all' but I think the older generation tend to be the most reliable customers. With yiungsters the novelty soon wears off

I get confused. I go in at high prices and they rip my hand off. I did this old lasses house for £7 and next door came round and said I was ripping  her off and should be ashamed as she pays £5. Others go HOW MUCH. then I think, am I overcharging? £20 to £40 hour
I have now come to the decision. I price my normal, Take it or leave it. I would rather do 50 customers at  £10 than 100 at £5. Make life easier. Keep window cleaning prices high. Don't do a tescos and drive prices down

It all boils down to what each customer sees as value to them.

I charge 1 euro 50 cents per 'frame', irrespective of size, so that equates to around 12 to 15 euros for a typical 3 bed semi. Apparently that is considered cheap, but I am happy, because I can earn enough at these prices. An added bonus is that because everyone here seems to want to charge stupidly high prices for little effort, it leaves little room for undercutters, and in any case, customers here tend to be very loyal.

Defo agree, I think when you first start, you underprice and it gets you out and about and noticed. But the guys who are still charging a fiver a pop after 10 years is just ridiculous , you got to put it up with inflation at least or your round will lose so much value, custys expect prices to go up , whether it's bread , milk , fuel etc etc the value of the £ ten years ago was worth a lot less than it is now

 looked at a job at the end of last year it was a site of over 55's apartments two guys where laddering the job( I turn up to quote it while they were cleaning) and they were charging £100. Thats for two men and it was taking them nearly a day.
Also priced up a shop that was being cleaned for £3 by previous window cleaner.

I am also surprised at how high people are pricing residential a post on here recently showed a couple are doing nearly £60-£70 per hour  nearly £400 a day.This surprised me as I'm from Hertfordshire and not many round here seem to hit these sorts of prices.

I 've been cleaning  for quite a while and have got to know a lot of shiners over the years and have never come across any that are mainly domestic and v.a.t  registered but with the money most seem to do on the houses on here it seems to be the norm.

To be fair, compactness makes a massive difference to daily earnings. Me and another lad are getting close to £400 per day and average house prices for thep round are £7-8 but extremely compact. Literally move the van three times the whole day.

window cleaner next door to me charges £4.50, i have a few in the same street at a tenner.

just price what you want to earn and if it take you longer to get there so be it.  Afterall what motivation is there to crack out 20 houses a day for £100? be patient price higher and keep on knocking

To be honest , I don't canvass , all my custys come from web or leaflets , I don't price any under a tenner though!

Been trad for 14 yrs (lol, ones r probably sick of me saying this now) wfp for last 7/8 months. My cust who transitioned onto wfp have kept their prices. Every so many yrs I put them up, whereas any new work gets the upto date prices. Over yrs Ive seen cowboys come n go and they charge really silly prices. The other steady lads charge 7/8 per house in some of rounds. When I get new work, huge majority from recommendations, I really sell my service n new tech of wfp and sell with confidence in my service n quality. I charge 10 upwards,  pending requirements with a min of £6 if they dont unlock gates after ive sent a txt night before, for just a front 2up2down clean. Where others charge 6 for full house.
I turned up once to a quote, got told other lad was hit n miss n didnt do a good job. Sold em my service n quoted £15. Cud see in eyes it was much higher n asked how much she was paying. Only £3:50, I siad thats why hes hit n miss.
