Gloves
« on: February 19, 2016, 07:01:08 pm »
I know we're coming to the end of the cold season but will be looking to get some decent gloves in the end of winter sales.
Have been using Skytec Argon from screwfix (about £6) warm but not dry
Showa 490 (about £15) warm, dry but bulky and stink after sweating in them.
Sealskinz bought from pure freedom (about £30), pretty good but not the best.
Looking for something completely waterproof and warm but wearable.
What have you guys been wearing (particularly those of you up north!) ;-)

Skytec Argon from screwfix  with latex gloves.

Tied pretty much everything.

Doesn't help i know.

I only used to wear latex gloves in like 0 - -4 weather but started to get pains in hands. Wear gloves now.

For waterproof.

Smallish fitting , the cuff is tight, hard to pull on and off.

Good grip, comfortable but wear out quicker.
http://www.showagloves.com/showa-600-pvc-green?gi=u6gcs87f9s421lqpt2jvjh8cc3#.Vsdn2Bbcvcs
Bit green but dead easy to get on and off and take some wear.

I use a thin pair of woolen gloves under a pair of heavy duty black rubber gloves from tesco (the ones that cost about three quid) only used them once this winter... Gloves can trap in the cold just like they can trap in the heat, so warm them up on the dashboard on the way to work...   :)

I have tried loads the problem I find they wear out between the thumb and four finger . if you have a pair that smell in side  put them in a plastic bag then put them in the freezer it kills the bacteria that causes the smell  , but don't tell your lass ;D

Box of 100 blue latex gloves from eBay I found them cheapest £5.49 free delivery ... Underneath some waterproof gloves that look like rubber gloves! They don't look the best but they don't smell and keep you hands dry

its different when your 100% trad stan.i never wore gloves accept on the coldest of days as i liked to get a feel of how damp the cloths are when detailing/buffing etc.

...but when your poling all day and using carbon poles/pure water you get ground bits of carbon in your hands and pure dries your hands out something chronic and you end up with little tears and cuts in them.

also its very unhygienic using bare hands when your dealing with 100m of hose along the ground every day.

its only a few hot days in the summer when i dont wear gloves.

on topic i wear the show 377s with glove liners most of the year.they keep your hands clean and dry.when its really cold you cant beat the skytech argon for warmth or the glacier "perfect curve" gloves.the skytech are virtually  waterproof and the glaciers a fully waterproof.

your gloves and hands wont smell if you use the nitrile liners underneath your main gloves.

no gloves last forever.i get 2 or 3 months out of the show 377s before they split worn every day.i buy 4 or 5 pairs of them at a time for about £6 each.it works out at around 10 -15p a day. ;D

as ive said your gloves or hands wont smell if you use nitrile gloves liners.
