What is the cheapest way of insuring all your vans? Do you some kind of fleet insurance?

Fleet insurance was expensive for two vans. We have both insured with Aviva with named drivers and it was way cheaper than a fleet policy. Around half the price.

hmm   :-\ ive been putting some quotes into go compare for a 23 year old on a citreon nemo, no convictions and no ncb, and its coming back with quotes around £2500-£3000! The price seems to rocket when i put in that the driver is not the legal owner of the vehicle.

Insure as you/company and add him as a named driver?

Coincidentally, I'm taking someone on who's 24 when he starts. He won't drive to begin with, but he will in 6 months so I'm going to get clobbered. But he's too good a hire to not take.

It's his age and the fact it's a van, I had the same problems insuring a young lad, I suppose you have to brake it down over the working days and see wot it costs per day and can the lad do a bit of extra work to cover the costs, if so let him take the van home as a reward of covering the costs

officially yes but let's be honest here, you go down as main user and he's a frequent user ( unofficially he's every day ), it won't matter if he had a bump he was just using it on that day, so no probs with insurance.

I used to have 2 vans up until a year ago and was insured with Aviva, I had an ' open driving policy ' on both vans, meaning as long as they had a full UK licence anyone could drive my vans, no restrictions. It cost around £40 on top of my premium, it would be worth asking if they still do these policies.

Anyone under 25 will rack the price up, so you have to take this into account when employing.

Fleet insurance was way to expensive for 3 vans or less, ( 2 lads under 25 )we got better deals with named drivers on each van. Once we hit 4 vans fleet became the better option, any employee could drive any van and no admin charges ( unlike named, where a new employee cost £50 per van to be added on )

A-plan seem best for getting the correct insurance

Ditto smudger. I am paying £1000 per van with any driver over 26. How does that compare to yours? I'm with axa
