Has this happen before ?
« on: February 18, 2016, 03:45:01 pm »
Hi Folks
Got a call to clean a big building  after it was powerwashed (between each floor is stone/marble )
However when we went to do Windows it's covered  with a film of dirt & the brush head removed 60% but left brush strokes on glass ! I got up and manually cleaned it even with a scraper still it took ages to do 1 pane....any suggestions ? Has this happen to anyone before ??

Could it be a mix of lime scale and dirt? Had this a few times when customers jet wash drives or patios using tap water and don't shield patio doors.  Dried lime scale can be difficult to remove and may require lime scale remover of some sort applied to it.

Cheers M & C...yes I think this may be the issue as it was powerwashed then side of building was in sun for couple of days but with a scraper it's still near impossible to get a good result.....prob is I have about 800 Windows to do  ::)roll
Any suggestions anyone ? (Pls don't say vision)

Tell the "facilities manager" that you cannot do them at the price. Explain why. Be prepared to walk away.

I would Granville but we have cherry picker out & we started doing a good bit for this company...
I was thinking of cleaning windows with some limescale remover & then going back and reclean ? But still cleaning twice minimum  :(

There's a chemical am using on a glass roof, i started off with virosol and it didn't do enough, now using there hd cleaner ( it's blue coloured ) which is doing he job, supplier is ics and am sure there nation wide so would be one local to you

if you got a cherry picker, just put a bottle into a bucket and scrub straight on, water coming out of brush will dilute, but were we have really bad glass I have pre wet and brushed it with a dry brush to work chemical into glass,

Best to ask supplier if it will leave marks on the building were it runs down

For me just really heavily soiled glass, I was thinking if it's lime scale, it may not touch it, I tried toilet cleaner in liquid form recently on some glass that had lime scale, took the surface off but left stain behind

I'd be a bit worried it doesn't mention anything about being suitable for glass cleaning.
