You are your own boss  you can have a holiday next week if you want to,if you have a late night you can say I'll have a lay in tomorrow ,I think I'll have Friday off if I get a good  start to the week the list goes on and on. I think we all forget from time to time how much freedom this job gives us you can literally do what you like when you like that in itself is motivation enough for me. Last week I was thinking if I wanted to go on the Internet and book a holiday in the sun for a week 10 days I could do and be on a beach this time next week.

Great post NWH, you have just reminded us how lucky we are, and flexible this job is.

I can quite understand losing motivation as it`s a really boring mundane job. Its just repetitive and not very challenging mentally. I sometime do things back to front to try to create interest.

i find routine and the mundane stuff strangely satisfying these days.a real comfort after my former life as a rock n roll hell raiser.
price higher/work harder!

Same here Daz. I actually enjoy getting organised and the satisfaction of ticking off done jobs on cleaner planner etc.

Very true. Being organised makes a massive difference.

Also every day I look forward a couple of weeks on Aworka and feel proud that every day has quality work booked in.

For me, it's very important to have interests outside of work.
What those are will vary from one person to another.
My own tastes are about writing poetry and a novel, closely followed by informally teaching GCSE maths to a friend's young adult (can't call him a kid any more :)  ).  Mind you, I sometimes screw up the odd A* question myself, but at least I can show him 95% of it.

I think what you have to remember is that every job gets boring not just window cleaning,It wouldn't matter what you did you could be in the warm on a day like today and in 6-8 weeks you'll wanna be outside in the sunshine, I know people that have what some would say are fantastic jobs but there bored out of there mind and often say to me you've got it sussed m8 you can do what you like when you like lol,No matter what there doing they stil have to get on and off the train everyday of the working week. No thanks just keep saying your struggling.

Best piece of advice for a while!

Its best not to bragg as it invariably goes wrong not soon after. I just say I do enough to get by, could always do with more work.

Cheers for all the advise folks much appreicated

Had a couple days away there mini holiday meself and a mate went on wee road trip down the country, had few nice pints and dinners and doing the whole tourist thing for a bit of a change

Back on the glass tomorrow again, i am in the process of doing little targets for myself to reach and if i do then i can treat oneself to something or meet a series of targets to get myself something bigger

Can anyone suggest any good books on the subject? I like reading and I dont do anywhere near enough so may as well kill 2 birds with one stone

Being diplomatic is being able to tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip.

I actually have that somewhere

I bought it when he had the show on telly about 6 or 7 years ago, was a good read indeed
