Does anyone use mobile card readers to take payment?
I've started looking into it and seems almost like a no brainer, espcially with those 'problem payers!'
Only thing is the mobile coverage in Cornwall is patchy to say the least.

Yea they are good. I use izettle and can highly recommend it. 

I have in the past use the traditional chip and pin mobile terminal and that's a bit hit and miss with Mobil signal, but izettle uses my own phone signal and very rarely have problems with it. 

The one I got connects with a wire into the headphone socket of my iPhone, but they do have Bluetooth connectivity ones, and also the ability to use contactless and also apple pay. With no monthly fees, nor rental and only pay for the actual transactions you put through, like you say, it's a no brainier.

I was looking at izettle a minute ago, seems to be the leader for cost and reviews.

I have a PayPal one as back up but TBH. Gocardless is the future.

A lot of my customers are of the older generation and aren't particually tech savvie. Am I right in thinking you need to provide an email address for each customer with GoCardLess?

I offer Go Cardless or Cheque only now.

Also have a paypal card reader for taking payment in advance for one off, and occassionally it comes in useful for other things - like on Friday when someone wanted to pay for a years window cleaning up front!

Why don't you accept bank transfers?

Good point, a couple of months ago, someone tried to pay me with a scratch card!!!!!!!!!

Ah that old chestnut! Wasn't a winning one I guess.

Think I'll be investing, for some reason people are a bit standoffish about GoCardless when I've asked them. Paranoid society, which is fair enough.

Do you need a smart phone with internet connection to use this, or does this use you mobile phone signal?

I have a smart phone, but do not have a contract with internet availability. The only way I can connect with the internet on my phone is by wifi at home.

 I read the manual. I need a 3g or 4g internet connection to do the transfer. So under present conditions this won't work for me.

Had the izettle since they launched it - Good little PDQ and fairly quick transaction even with a poor signal, that said i found it time consuming getting it from van turning on connecting to phone, handing to custy = faff. 80% of my work is BACS and i aim for that every time now if no cash. I can now count the ones who still do card on one hand.
