hi..having problems with the van doors swinging wide open with the wind, i bought some steel chain and was going to rig something up with chain and hooks or something?

anyone know of a better way? before i try this

I've been having some trouble with this as well. Not sure if there's a good way around it to be honest but for my next van I'm definitely going to try and get one with a tailgate.

Dont have a problem. Dont have hose fixed into van. Port outside and lift hose reel out van n onto road/pavement. If I ever need to keep it fixed in van, I'll put a small hole in base and run hose through with guards to underneath. Simples. ... no blown of doors, no one seeing inside van. Many security risks sorted

I often wonder how you fellas can work with your van doors open. I'd be too paranoid that one of my spare poles would get pinched.

I have a cabin hook fitted to the rear door (only one needs to be open) which keeps door securely open in high winds. A local garage fitted it and they had to bend the arm a bit so it would sit properly.

thanks all for your comments, not keen on having ports on the outside as i prefer to have the reels fixed down inside, when i first started WFP i used to lift them in and out all the time, used to do me back in.

 i do like the idea of them guides in the floor.  i would imagine there quite easy to fit as well,  as of yet iv not had any problems leaving rear doors open, but im always a bit anxious about doing so.

so yeah the guides are the way to go

You can buy fairlead whinch rollers for about £20 each posted. That's how I am modding mine.

 could even get the motor as well and have an electric reel

Incorrect! Seen TWO done it already. Fine once new. After a year or so they wear out. Results in bent hinges.

Same goes for front doors. Hang onto them in the wind. Otherwise you will end up with a fecked door and wing. Have a search on the net
