« on: February 07, 2016, 04:43:22 pm »
Got a decking clean coming up in 2 weeks but the customer also would like a large rust stain removed from a flint wall ( stain from central cheating flue )

Anyone reccomend a product/chemical that will remove the stain thanks in advance

Lysergic acid diethylamide or Oxalic acid….cannot remember which one.  I have used both…..

Cheers Chris - I see the  oxalic acid is an ingredient in bar keepers friend which is quite well thought of.

Hi Darran, another option for rust is hydrofluoric acid 2 to 5% strength, or if you know any stainless steel fabricators near you they use a pickling paste for cleaning welds which is  produced  from hydrofluoric acid it usually comes in a 1 liter tub with applicator brush, just brush it onto the rust stain and let it dwell for 5 minutes agitate with a scrub brush and give the whole area a good rinse as its nasty stuff.
