I've  got a linen sofa to clean soon and wanted some advice on what sort of temperature I need to be around to extract? Also any other advice on cleaning linen would come in handy. I know not to over wet and make sure I give plenty of dry strokes. Cheers

Get yourself some Haitian cotton cleaner from chemspec. Its called cotton upholstery cleaner now. And rinse with an acid. Speed dry evenly.

The Chemspec Haitian Cotton Cleaner is an extraction detergent you mix in the tank of the machine, not a prespray

Yes sorry its an in tank product but I sometimes use it with great effect as a pre-spray. Then rinse it off with the same product or an acid rinse. My favourite is liquid high heat.

If the upholstery is manky you could test some fabric restorer from Prochem as a pre-spray and rinse with the  cotton upholstery cleaner (used to be called Haitian Cotton Cleaner ).

Thanks that's great advice as I'm still learning and nervous when it comes to upholstery. I picked up some fabric restorer the other day but thought it might be to harsh for linen but can test like you said.

I would keep chess on the acid side,  use cold as linen tends to shrink but relaxes when used.

With Linen just be aware that especially in heavy soil areas, like end of arms and head areas, they can turn a yellowish shade, which may be permanent.  Often this is hidden beneath soil, so qualifying the customer is necessary.
