Brakes need doing after 19k!
« on: January 27, 2016, 04:14:28 pm »
Transit custom brakes need doing after 19k! Wear indicator flashed up at 80% warn!

Gonna start leaving my wallet at home from now on, too much weight.

850 tank and heavy setup have taken their toll on my van :(

Booked her in for an engine flush, service, pads and new air freshener  8)

Although it could be a PITA in other ways, I used to get about 45,000/50,000 from a set of pads in my Renault Trafic.  I tended to decelerate well beforehand though - where possible.  800 litre tank in the back.  I suspect that a lot is about driving style.
I now have a Citroen Dispatch - which I'm told can be heavy on pads.  We shall see.

I know for a fact the pads are smaller/thinner than normal (more brake changes)

I have had maybe two or three brown trousers moments with a full tank lol.

I had to get all discs and pads replaced on my Traffic end of December and some other bits and pieces, £620. Then front pads and discs on my car and some other bits last week £270! Heavy right foot perhaps, as my Dad used to say  :) New van on order though so should be ok for a bit, but will have 850 ltr. tank instead of 650ltr.

I wont see any change out of £500. The service is a joke at just over £250 but when i sell the van it will be one owner, full ford service history. So at least the new owner can point at me and say mug  ;D

Sub contract mate :) working with someone tomorrow and Friday.

However when i was doing my canvassed work i was doing 850L in a day EASY. Was a godsend then.

The reason i went for an 850 tank is because the 650/850 grippa tank systems take up the same foot print. 850 was like £300 more. Its only taller. So for the sake of £300 it made sense to a get a bigger tank as the 650 would really be about a 610/620.

If i am behind on work, i can fill the tank to say 700. crank up flow to 99 and never worry about water or rinsing lol

Think that's the first time I've ever agreed with you Sean.  ;D

Damo surely your under weight still? 1300 payload should take an 850 tank set up and two operators id have thought.

Where does 500kg go?

Depends, when buying and servicing your own you can buy a more expensive set that will last longer, the guys who
service your van wont want you knowing this as it wouldn't be in their interest.

The thing is I changed the  brake pads on my Dispatch last year I think they cost about £40 for the most expensive set
in my local motor factors and it took me an hour to change them.
Could have done it quicker with  the tools a garage would have to hand, its not only shiners who know how to charge. ;D
