It's only older flat roofs that are a problem - the ones with chipboard usually.  For some years now that has been outlawed and now materials are used that don't weaken when wet, or at least not enough for you to go through.

I had to get all discs and pads replaced on my Traffic end of December and some other bits and pieces, £620. Then front pads and discs on my car and some other bits last week £270! Heavy right foot perhaps, as my Dad used to say  :) New van on order though so should be ok for a bit, but will have 850 ltr. tank instead of 650ltr.

I wont see any change out of £500. The service is a joke at just over £250 but when i sell the van it will be one owner, full ford service history. So at least the new owner can point at me and say mug  ;D

The thing is I changed the  brake pads on my Dispatch last year I think they cost about £40 for the most expensive set
in my local motor factors and it took me an hour to change them.
Could have done it quicker with  the tools a garage would have to hand, its not only shiners who know how to charge. ;D

Same here, would never take it in just for pads/discs, very easy job to do.

Portion control mate. Simple as that. On a bad/good week i would have 3-4 takeaways.

A Saturday would be.

Mac d breakfast - subway - doner meat and chips AND a small pizza.

So I am still eating the same food. Just way less lol

More than capable of serving my van and changing brakes. However it's under warranty, I am lazy and booking into a 5 star hotel for the day with a customers missus.

i couldnt be bothered changing pads and discs myself either but i wouldnt take a car or van to a main dealer.they charge a hell of a lot more than a local trusted garage.
price higher/work harder!

Unfortunately, I don't have a choice for the next few years as I don't own the vehicle until the balloon payment is made.  Main dealerships have a knack of replacing parts that they "guess" might be wearing.  They always want to change the wiper blades - EVERY time.  Some years back I used a Nissan main dealer for my newish Sunny van.  He told me that he replaced the blades because the wrong ones had been fitted.  What he didn't know was that his company had fitted them on the previousservice (6 month intervals back then for a petrol van).  So that one was quickly deleted.  That dealership also stole my spare wheel and replaced with an worn tyre.  I went back when I realised but the place had gone broke and closed.

Even worse Dazmond the whole things a racket, for a start 23 can take his van anywhere for a service as long as its to a
qualified mechanic but the dealers will fight you on it.
By law all you need to do to keep the warranty valid is to maintain the vehicle to a standard where by if you didn't it would
cause damage.
A new vehicle is guaranteed by consumer law but dealers use it as a way of taking us for a ride by charging over inflated prices
for servicing and replacement consumables.

I agree Sean.  In my (admittedly limited) experience, main dealers are dodgy compared to the back street garage - though I have chosen back street garages carefully.

If your vehicle has warranty and you go the dealership to get jobs done. The dealership then gets paid for whatever work is done.

Say renault ( only coz I know ) ........ So I go into renault Liverpool and get some work done, costs £600 these then claim it all back from renault uk, at a more inflated cost I bet. Hence the reason they will change anything

So I should imagine vauxhall vw ford and the rest will all be the same.
