Anyone use a Dash Cam?
« on: January 20, 2016, 10:41:54 pm »
As above really! Another numpty pulled out in front of me this morning, fully loaded of course. Not hit one in 30 years but feel like It's getting trickier.

Any info would be appreciated especially if it makes van insurance cheaper  :)

before buying one it would be well worth your time to check out this site

ok, its a bit geeky, but he has a great buying guide to dash cams ( and gopro style action cams along with other gizmos ) and loads of personal reviews and footage to help you decide and trusted links to buy from.

I've got a cheap camera in the pickup but it misses some of the footage! Just remember that if your in the wrong it can work against you. I wouldn't bother spending to much as it only becomes something worth stealing, leaving you with a broken window.

We look at them, they look through them.

Use a Transcend 200, it doesn't display speed which can be a good thing and has excellent footage capture in daylight and the dark.

Cost aprrox £65.

The SJCam looks pretty good and comes with a few attachments.
I also watched a youtube clip last night which said the so called fake SJ's are actually from the same company, there only around £15.00 ???

+1 some great reviews

I used my sjcam for a while but kept getting corrupted files and couldnt open them, decided to go for a dedicated dashcam just bought Transcend 220 and seems perfect great playback images both night & day.

So many nutters on the road these days and bash for cash seems to be on the rise aswell. can also bring your insurance premium down

I've got an SJCAM SJ4000 wifi, pretty good cameras and come with all you could need. Not used it as a dash-cam though, only in day time and under water- both of which it performs brilliantly. Got mine from Amazon after reading about the fake ones, I got the cam, two extra batteries and charger, 2 x 32gb micro SD cards and a case to keep it all in for less than £100.
