Yes I've got a Partner 1.6 HDi  850 (90 bhp).
Good van in my opinion, but would advise searching for vehicles with a strict service history if buying used.

Is this same 1.6HDi engine that is used by the Peugeot Expert and Citroen Dispatch? I thought these were supposed to be problematic???

Don't know for sure but I assume so?
I've had mine from new (13 reg) and never had any problems, and I always get it serviced on schedule.

buy brand new dont waste time with used

depends on how many miles you do and whether its just used for work etc.

id never buy a brand new van when you can pick up a half decent clean van for 3k-4k thatll last a good 5 years with minimal downtime in most instances esp if your only doing 3000 miles a year
price higher/work harder!

A friend of mine is leasing a new one for two years for something ridiculous like £137 per month - sounds promising...

that might be a good idea for small one man operators or part timers but
by the time your done with it the van will be fit for the scrap yard and be worthless, buy new have zero repair bills and after 3 years will only have lost the same on depreciation as an old one,

i would never buy used again

ive got 3 citroen berlingos & an astra van - 2 berlingos are leased and the 2 others are purchases

The berlingo we purched we bought from citroen after we had leased it, its done 89k miles and its as smooth as a baby,  ive literally replaced the tyres and a set of wiper blades.

Wee astra van we bought from auction, just a run around - great van but low on the payload

Lease vans - 3 payments down, 15,000 miles per year, full maintenance cover - £177 per month plus vat (we are vat reg'd)

Don't be afraid of the old frenchies, these vans are good vans and will serve you well.  Buy new or lease if possible though, then you know its only your problems you are fixing if it goes wrong.

I totally agree, my car I like new . But window cleaning vans get wet ,and marked up especially if driven by employees.

Just picked up first one 12 plate with 50 k for 4,500 plus vat.  I will run it for 3 years and probably get 1500 when I change it.

I expect at that money it's contract hire or similar .  When he hands it back in 2 years if it's not in excellent condition they will charge him for the work to make it so . Can be very expensive as they don't try very hard to keep those costs down , just give it to a dealer to sort.

It's hard to keep window vans smart.
