TM fuel cost
« on: December 13, 2015, 09:34:26 am »
Switched my TM engine from a 18hp kohler to a 23hp B&S.

I've beed  a bit spoilt in the past using a Diesel engine running red diesel which cost my £15 a week but I've been using £55-60 a week on the new engine.

i know the cost of petrol is relative  to the amount of money I earn ( the more fuel I use the more money I must earn) but this is a lot more than the kohler.

How much are you spending on fuel, is it true what they say that a bigger engine runs more fuel efficient ?

I Checked my Titan 575, the first £35 of petrol ran the machine for 8.5 hours, if it had been on lpg it would be half.
The 575 is a 32hp Kohler.

For the £35 of fuel it earned about £1500 so costs are around 2.5%
The next tank of fuel earned slightly more, so all in all costs are low.
Shaun Ashmore has same machine and his costs will be much less as he charges more and his runs on lpg, you will have the cost of lpg installation back in less than 6 months normally.
I think it was Simon Gerrard that told me the saving in lpg on his Titan paid for the machine !

The Titan isn't a Kohler, its a Kubota.

Hi Guys

I run on LPG which is a bit of a pain getting supplies as not many petrol stations  stock it and the pumps can be temperamental.

However the cost is much cheaper and it runs much cleaner, so no smelly exhaust problems on a customers drive.

Cheers

Doug

Our Bluewave - 3 cylinder Kubota, 30HP - uses 6L per hour. Our Thermalwave - 4 cylinder Nissan, 55HP - uses a bit less, about 5L per hour. These are both LPG.

Mike

you should offer packages one with TM and the other portable.

you could price in two ways one making the TM more expensive, paying for fuel and depreciation. or less expensive selling on how productive a TM is. It The Old JP getting prospect to choose between you and you and not you and someone else.

let the customer decide.  -) some times is not not what you say, head shrink doctors use this method all the time. "you can lead a horse to water" when some ones "light goes on" it means much more to them that someone telling them.
