Is there a chemical that can be used/added to solution tank etc that will cure any associated problems with a carpet that has had a cat live with it. Got a customer allergic to cats who is wondering is there chemical I could use on the carpets hes inherited in a new house hes bought that had a cat living there.

I would say any allergies would be to do with the fur

I really good prevac, prespray with MPower and then a rinse maybe with MPower in the solution tank again will solve it

So a good clean then. Which is what I did recommend to customer. Had a look on line. Found insecticide. Over £100 for 5litres

if there is no cat present then no allergic reaction will take place. People allergic to cats react only when cats are present. If allergic reactions take place when no cat is present then the reaction is an allergy to something else.

Insecticide will kill things like fleas,moth,beetle but won't remove allergens.
I suffer with allergies,  and on most jobs with pets present I immediately get symptoms like sneezing, wheezing, eyes streaming and itchy throat.

Usually as I proceed with each stage of the clean my symptoms relieve. Dry soil extracting with the sebo,  followed by a suitable pre spray (usually spm, citrus or whatever I'm using) agitate and dwell, followed by a Thorough rinse.

In most cases it's something in the dust which causes allergies, I'm no expert but the cat itself is fine, (hair/skin cells/oily dust) thats what come off the cat which is the allergen usually.

Derek, surprised at that as I'm allergic to Horses and even if someone has clothing or a Horse blanket with hairs on its sets me off, streaming eyes etc.
I'm more of the opinion its the dander from the animal thats the problem. Remedy is to fully vacuum the carpet, fully means spending at least half an hour with a good upright in good condition. This needs to be pulled backwards very slowly North to South and East to West.
Then a good pre-spray suitable for the type of carpet followed by a very hot rinse. A rinse detergent will also help.

John - i am not saying to use MPower because of the allergy side of the clean - if you read my post you will see i have said as far as i am aware the allergy will be from the hair, hence why i have said a really good prevac as you have also.

I recommended MPower to clean with as i find colloids very good with things like poo, wee, sick etc and sometimes if pets have been present it can be a good way to go and also helps with odours associated from the pets.

People who are allergic to cats are actually allergic to the proteins in their saliva. They lick themselves allover and this falls off all over the place along with their fur which is also covered with the stuff. A prespray and rinse which is appropriate to the carpet type should suffice.

Its a fact many people don't understand the power of micelles the workhorses behind colloidal cleaning solutions, i often wished that i had discovered them 20 years before i did as i would have saved myself so much grief over the years and also would of gained many more clients and earned a lot more when i was cleaning carpets,upholstery,leather,etc, because of the very safe and effective results which can be achieved by this amazing technology, but as they say its better late than never, and there is no future in the past.  Its also great to see there are many janitorial suppliers across the globe promoting colloidal cleaners to all sectors of the cleaning industry. Its a surfactant  ...   ALL surfactants used in cleaning detergents produce micelles .

Please tell us in detail how this surfactants micelles differ form other surfactants micelles .

Not a essay  ...  just say ,  five full lines of an explanation .

My preferred colloidal cleaner for carpets and upholstery has a pH value of 8.7 yours has a pH value of 16               keep to your kitchen making your potions on a scale of 1 to 14 you are way ahead of anybody else.

But knocking perfectly good and effective cleaning products by pretending they unsafe or outdated in order to sell  or promote this basic surfactant which u clearly dont even understand  ...   is just wrong imo

Ya your right i suppose i have been in this industry since 1982 and i still don't understand it, Ya right time to get out of your kitchen and start to open up your mind as to what has been happening over the last number of years and will continue to happen for years to come, change is happening in all industries not just ours, by the way tell me the product or products i have knocked and i'll explain to you my reasons for knocking it/them.
