Bought an VS machine  off eBay  last month, I wanted it to clean leather suites. used it  today for the first time. Got to say it was brilliant. To be honest I could have cleaned it by hand  just as good but the VS  made it easier and looked more professionals to the customer.

If you get the chance I would get one ( cheap of ebay )

Looks good - and i agree about it looking better using a machine, it always helps to use something the customer hasnt seen before to help them justify the cost

Totally agree about the cleaning leather by hand thing. Even though I mention it on the phone you always get the feeling that they are a bit miffed that you are not using a machine!

Yes they are safe to use on fabric. But use common sense. Delicate or weak fabric may tear. Great on velors. Not particularly quicker than HWE though. Fabric generally left dryer in many cases.

Deep' this is fitted with th black stiff brushes and it still felt gentle enough to use on leather,

Steve  they are like a suitcase about the same weight and have a handle on the top to carry it with. Not really too heavy to carry Into a house certainly lighter that a rotary

JandS used some Foam leather cleaner mixed at half strength with softened water

This cost me £175 inc p&p off eBay I've tried it on fabric and on lightly soiled suites it would be great, I would'nt like to use it on a filthy suite, I think zero-res  ( or home n dry ) use this machine as there preferred method of upholstery cleaning.

From now on I will use it on all my leather cleaning , it does look impressive

Are you extracting using your TM or a porty?

Does the von Schrader not have its own extraction?

It has its own vacuum extraction, so it scrubs the foam on then you vac it off.

As a stand alone suite cleaning system it's quite good, I bet if you used V/S products including their prespray you would get a decent clean. Plus it's dries really quick

Hi Mike,

After your post I looked on eBay, sadly none came up. I can remember these from back in the early 1980s, although I believe their foam system had been going from at least the late 1960s.  Possibly used first in America?

Back then they cost a fortune compared to the hot water extractors available at the time. They do seen a rare beast to find, yours looks a good buy.

What would be a good alernative to this, surely you should be able to put a system together yourself that generates foam & use a wet vac to extract......just a thought....

I remember years ago using a Kirkby with a foam generator, admittedly it was quite useless,  but the principle was quite simple, just used the air from the vac exhaust to generate the foam through a tank of solution.....

You could mix up the foam in a bucket and apply it with a sponge, then use a wet vac to vacuum it off,  but the VS gives a consistant foam which is effectively scrubbed in. Plus it's a compact system

Jamie did a video of a drill  attachment  which had a foam delivery system , which would be a better DIY method.
