Information marketing

Guys thought i would share some ideas i am testing.

i have a article on one of my sites that gets loads of hits, this one article keeps my site high in the town that the site serves. sorry cant give more details than that. but the point is that if you can find just one article that can get hits your site will benefit overall. we are talking worldwide hits.

its not hard to do, here is a test page. (dont click on link if you think this post is self serving for myself)

http://www.chelmsford.cleaning-carpet.co.uk/how-do-i-clean-my-sofa/

now i know your going to say who want people that are interested in cleaning their own sofas? well we dont, but they provide the traffic that will boost your sites overall hit rate.

As far as the information goes it can be as detailed as you like or like mine just thrown together. there is a case for making it detailed as it will show your an expert and how risky it will be to clean it themselves. this boost the professional status of us all. given that you want as many of these types of articles as possible making them as quick as you can is that old see what sticks.

what type of problems do you think people type into Google?  milk and soot are two that come to my mind that people would have problems with.

Ian just to make this clear in my mind you are saying in this particular town if I type into google 'how do I clean my sofa' this webpage will be shown on the 1st page of Google ?

If so I can see how this would be useful or are you saying that one page of a website gets hits ( hits I guess means people land on the actual page) if this is the case how do they hit the page independently of landing on the original website?

I think Ian is saying that an article on his site gets a lot of hits therefore his sites ranking as a whole has been given a boost.

I have found that regular articles help the the websites rankings even if they do not get many hits because Google likes content and even better fresh content. If the article page gets high in the rankings for the search term that is it's title name as well being shared on social media platforms then that is an even bigger bonus that will boost your website as a whole!

That's what I find anyway and apologies to Ian if I have misunderstood his post.

How does an article on his site  get hits independently from his actual site ?  Surely people click his site first then find the article,  unless the article page address is independently found on Google .

Or are we talking about his click through rate from his landing page,

Google will rank the page if the search term matches it thus taking the searcher straight there if they click on the link......

The article will be found independantly in the search results if attention is payed to it's on page SEO and the relevant structure to the web site and content regardless of weather searched by say, Carpet cleaning Cleathorps.

As an example......if you have  a cleaning related web site and you create an article on ''how to remove stains from my upholstery'' it could rank very well provided your site is trusted and the article page is well SEO'd. Not only but also, it has to be well written, high quality and informative so that other sites may link to it.
