Denim dye on cream sofa
« on: November 12, 2015, 09:51:03 pm »
I've got some upholstery to clean first week in December.

75% synthetic (polyester and acrylic if I remember rightly) and 25% viscose. It's M&S.

One sofa is quite grubby with denim dye transfer.Ive never done anything with this problem before.

Any ideas on the best products to tackle this please.

I'd go with fabric restorer myself.

If its fresh, try alcohol on a terry towel, and then acetone.  If it's still there (or if your going to clean the thing anyway) then brush in an SPM type product using a fairly stiff brush (we make our own version so not 100% sure what's in it now), terry towel off and then rinse it off. 99 times out of a 100 its removed using those exact steps.

I remember once getting jean dye out of a carpet where someone sat in front of the fire with wet jeans on. Came out instantly with just some solvent (or right mix of solvent!).

Colloid + Chemspec energizer with Formula 90 in the tank.

Works on most things.

Kev has the best problem solver I wasn't expecting anyone to post with that kind of indepth solution, I'd still go with fab restorer first.

Heavy Duty Soil Lifter is good on these on either upholstery or carpet. Neutral PH and Woolsafe approved.
