Ordered anpther extreme 22 last night as a spare then when x3 comes in will nab one of them.

It depends which size Series-I pole you have. The 25 and 35ft are the same as the series-1, the others are lighter.

Of course a newer pole will always be heavier than an older worn pole as an older pole can have up to 20% of its weight worn away

They will be interchangeable, although a little tweaking may be needed. When using an older section inside of a new type section an extra wrap or two of overlap tape may need adding in both positions to ensure a rattle free fit.

Here two tips for older extreme poles on worn section, wont bore you with how to do it bar keep it thin, lol top tip is Q-bond or metal epoxy but Q-bond works best,

Oh no I love the metal bands
If you extended the bottom metal band right to the bottom of each section there would be virtually no wear on extreme poles.
I'm gutted is my first reaction.
