correct wanding??
« on: October 31, 2015, 07:09:07 pm »
can anybody point me in the direction of some good vids showing correct/better wanding techniques??  im sure im doing something wrong as my back is always a tad sore after a long day. Ive read about moving the handle on the wand up nearer the top rather than low down where it is when i bought it...   any hints re methodology, dry/wet passes, etc etc much apreciated....

I went through a time of blaming my painful back on wanding but in reality you have just got a 'bad back' if you were  a driver you would blame your van seat, if you was a carpenter you would blame your saw.

You need to take a more  holistic approach to back care  ;)

1 Get a Glide.

2 Use your arm rather than your back

3 Move the handle up the wand as high as you can.

These three things have helped me.

Moving the handle high up the wand helps loads.
I also get regular sports massages.

If using a porty press the trigger and pull back so the right arm ( if right handed) is parallel with your side, let go of the trigger then pull back a little further. Push the wand forward at a slight diagonal so it overlaps the first stroke by about a third back to the start position. Repeat this four or five times moving across to eventually cover an area about a meter across. Then follow up by covering that area with dry strokes back the way you came. Start again on the next area. .... and again ... and again....

That's what I do and find it gives me the best balance between good dry times and speed. Sometimes I do need to flush more though.

Keep a straight back and just use your arms......then  try it in the real world and after about 2 or 3 passes you forget it and start bending your back because it's quicker.....comes with the job.
Impossible done straight away, miracles can take a little longer.

If you are using the handle when general wanding then you are not using it right and will def have a bad back.

You should be completely upright and use the wand, with one hand preferably, from where you hold the trigger.

The handle is used normally for maneauvering around tight corners etc

Keep the wand as close to your hip as you can and rock on your legs with a straight back. It also helps to alternate sides.. ie. work left handed sometimes.
Should find it helps loads. And don't forget stretching helps!!!  ;D
