Powder pre sprays
« on: October 15, 2015, 09:20:40 pm »
Hi all we have been carpet cleaning now for 1 year and half we currently use solotion based pre sprays e.g craftex trafic lane cleaner & Champion I buy as a 5 liter tub in bulk also use multi pro and few other from prochem. For really dirty traffic areas would shockwave powder 15 or 20 kg  in powder be a better option  for me ?? Thanks Paul

Shockwave  powder i believe is a high PH powder from detergent specialists Solutions UK ?

Really there are four or five ingredients in shockwave that are common to many other brands ...  if you want to stick with Craftex , you will find they have a fairly similar similar powder  , just as they have powders similar to SPM  and similar to ultimate master and others mentioned here .
Powders and liquid detergent mixes exist mainly because the ingredients used may be more stable , effective , economical , practical as either a powder or a liquid depending on the product and intended use .
Best to get the powders and the liquids and use each for their individual strengths  accordingly .

Depends on what im cleaning .
I often just use the simple citrus ,d-limonene based presprays ,  sometimes the more complex or harsher  ones like the trafic lane ones u mentioned  .
Some times i prespray with ultimate master powder often boosted with a liquid prespray , but i like to have ultimate master in tank as a cleaning rinse .
I like some of the chemspec products also and i have a few homemade special brews .
But like i said many of these products are replicated in other brands product range  , so id be quite happy to use craftex , or others also .

Hi Paul. Craftex do a Powdered Enzyme Prespray which is good for protein based soiling and greasy carpets such as resturants, pubs etc. A slightly better product, and in my view the best on the market is Ezall by Chemspec.
For a general pre-spray for heavily soiled carpets, Prochems Powerburst is one of the best.

Champion is also a fantastic pre-spray but due to its very high PH is only really suitable for manmade fibres. Although I have personally used it on fire damaged carpets along with an acid rinse on wool with good results.

Yes,  mix it tap hot does the trick I find. Give it a good stir and pre spray,  agitate,  leave it to dwell on mingers and give it a thorough rinse.  I used to rinse with thier acid rinse

I tend to just use water to rinse give it a good pre spray then use sebo duo to agitate  let it dwell for 15 mins then rinse with hot water don't like the idea of soloution  pre spray hot rinse cold :)

What are u paying dear for per kilo in powerburst ?  i see three basic cheap ingredients , PH around 11.5 .
It would seem to me that the craftex powder , especially the ones with a strong  sodium metasilicate content have similar ingredients and would match the PH of powerburst at prespray concentrations .
and works out at half the cost of powerburst if u by 15kg

John Kelly touched on ph and natural fibres, if you don't want any adverse incidents keep your cleaning to neutral ph when cleaning wool the higher end or more 'powerful' products can discolour/spoil/yellow them even if you neutralise with an acid rinse after.

I would agree with Shaun, some of the recommended products above even contain sodium hydroxide which for the likes of Paul who uses 15 mins dwell time after agitation could turn into a right disaster, its always safer to read the sds so you know what you have in your hands and which type of fibers you are dealing with.
