My gutter cleaning charge is £3.00 per metre.
I'll be looking to gain contracts (council) for gutter cleaning so should I be prepared to negotiate the costing?
Work should be 10-20 properties at a time.

I think you will find most councils have their own gutter squad well at least ours does so they don't use contractors.
I was approched by a council H&S bod and he asked me loads of questions regarding the system I was using whilst out on a job. Then low and behold a few weeks later they bought their own guttervacs. What I did not tell him that guttervacs are prity darn useless but I'm sure he figured that one out quite quickly

Council stock comes in all shapes and sizes so for an example you would not charge the same rate for say 3/4 storey building than a council bungalow surely?

As mentioned above, no one building will be the same , so a mtr charge is irrelevant
Access equipment required  will differ from building to building
Traffic management  , barriers , night work ect ect the list goes on

So what is the best gutter cleaning vac.

Some would say for suction power and water lift a skyvac industrial if money is no object.

Ray , you need a vac that has a minimum of 3000 watts. Carbon fibre poles are also  a must . More expensive but less weight
Vacs are a great tool to have but they have their limitations . Also a 6.5 kva genarator  to power up the vac

So in general would contract work be less or more profitable.

Ideally you want to win work that is priced very well as if not you will regret doing it and get the hump as gutter clearing can be hard and filthy work even using a guttervac.

Very true.
I don't gain a lot of gutters that I quote for and its not because I'm expensive, its due to the fact people don't respect the work involved in clearing there neglected guttering that they have caused through being tight.

If you win all you quote then more likely the price is too low as general rule.

You can give a price to one that say it's too pricey and then give the same price to another and they say are you sure as we were expecting it to be more than that so you can't bloody win
