Opinions on this engine

Thinking of buying one of these engines they are local so if it goes wrong I can just take it back, I'm assuming they will give some sort of warrantee

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Petrol-Engine-Loncin-22Hp-V-twin-Lawn-Mower-Engine-/311452329744?hash=item4884016710

Anyone any experience of them, or know the best place to buy a genuine kohler, Honda or B&S engine, need a 18hp but was thinking of getting bigger so it doesn't need to work as hard.

Mike I've got a 21HP Briggs sat on the shelf which we won't be using - it came as a sample - if you are interested in some pics I'll post a few up. The build quality is in a totally different league.

Loncin wise - those V-Twins are not all that great - they are a copy of the Kohler :) their smaller engines are better.

If you want the B&S 18HP with built on tank we have those too - we can get the Kohler engine aswell.

Would be interested in seeing a pic of the 23hp, any idea of price?

Will get pics of the 23 up this evening it's hidden behind a stack of engines - not in hindsight a wise move.

Hi Mike, i do not have personal experience of that Loncin engine, but Loncin are quite a reputable make. Of course above and beyond any warranty you do have recourse to the consumer credit act  ;)  Assuming you buy it from an established retailer.  And some retailers are looking for more than 100% markup on that same engine.................
http://www.pump.co.uk/engine-c80/loncin-v-twin-petrol-engine-c282/loncin-petrol-v-twin-22hp-engine-p5930

Its an admirable approach looking to source an engine rated 4hp above whats needed but the reality is its like putting a Rover V8 in your nans mini to go to the supermarket. I'm a Lifan fan myself. Botton line is there are plenty of Honda dealers that will service you, not so many for Loncin/Lifan...............which has give me an idea !!!

The Loncin WILL drink juice... Buy the Briggs from Ben. You will only cry once when you pay for it.... Not every time it stops or every time you refuel. The Briggs have a wayyyyyyyy better build quality and a 3year warrenty.anybody can get the parts for them. Don't buy on price you will regret it..... And I am a fan  of  Loncin engines for light applications

Mike

I am looking at one from Ben.  I have done a lot of research and have considered Kranzle, Falch, Loncin, Honda and B&S.  The result having considered all options is B&S.  Admittedly I set out wanting diesel but on reflection and taking everything into consideration it came down to either the B&S or the Honda.  I have a fair amount of experience and we used to operate Falch F2 & T3's so we are used to the best.  Our requirement has changed slightly but we still wanted a Pro PW with umph when required so we are going for the B&S as you are never far from a dealer (parts) if required.

This is the one I have decided on all fitted onto wheelbarrow trolley

Briggs & Stratton 18HP Electric Start
Odyssey Battery (Military Spec)
Heavy Duty Wheelbarrow Frame
Interpump RS500 Gearbox
Interpump W2525
Easy Prime / Bleed Valve
K1 Interpump Unloader Valve
1" Inlet barbs and Y filter
Chemical pick up valve (removable)
1 x Italian 900mm Turbo Lance & trigger MV2012
1 x Italian 900m washdown Lance & trigger MV2012
3m inlet hose and return line.
2 x 20m High Pressure Hose M22
Hose Reel Kit

A quick update .....

I bought the 23hp off Ben, although I was a little hesitant at first as they don't come with a built on throttle cable so I would have had to sort that out but Ben kindly wired one on for me to fit onto my machine.

Funnily enough I might still buy the loccin engine as its real cheap and I have a  spare bowser unit with a  blown engine but great pump, it would be good to have it up and running as a spare
