The Vac that Avern sells seems to be the same as Grippa vac but for a better price. However the gutter pack from Avern is hopeless, its only 38mm and the poles are numatic steel vacuum sections made longer.
I bought the vacuum off Avern but the hose, poles and tools elsewhere.

Could really do with some videos of GrippaVav. There is loads of SkyVac, maybe this is why I'm not sure what to buy.

They are indeed based on the same machine with a few differences. Obviously our system packages are overall more expensive than Avern due to the Gardiner light weight high modulus carbon fibre poles, as well as the tools, hoses, camera mounts, bags, and other options that can come as part of a package.

I think the only reason why people still buy grippavac is because of the gardiner poles myself apart from the obvious price compared to the ridiculous overpriced  skyvac industrial packages.

Anyone can cobble together a so say guttervac package which will do the same job as either of those for a fraction of the cost if you ask me. You just have to look about for the bits to put one together yourself.

Marketing vids can easily lead people astray in thinking they can't put one together themselves as diy is how so say guttervacs came about in the first place..

At 20 metres the poles often snap and trying to pull them apart is very difficult at the best of times - we have two or three sections "stuck" together in our warehouse in Ashford - and non of us can pull them apart.

The grippa vacuum sucks really well and the lads are really impressed with the lightweight poles - however they do seem to take out the old omni vac and steel poles more than the grippa vac these days due to it being much stronger whilst in use. Service from Grippa is second to non and Oliver always aims to please.

Our next vac - will probably be the http://www.space-vac.co.uk/ as I have seen it in action and it looks very good - although last time I looked it only went to 14 metres

I find pouring a kettle of boiling water of the joined sections of "stuck" carbon fibre poles always loosens them?

A squirt of dry lube as you assemble stops them from ringing together

I had to use our pressure waher with a turbo nozzle at full whack to release em.    Funny my wife said for a long time to do this, but I told her it wouldn't work
