advice on render cleaning needed
« on: September 13, 2015, 06:08:01 pm »
Hi we have been approched by a houisng management company with regards to having their properties render cleaned. However, they are under the impression from Weber Render themselves that Weber can provide an acid  that can be used to clean weber render safely. Can anyone offer any insight into this. thanks in advance. :)

Not delt with anything specifically weber but I've done k render and unbranded render and various coatings,

As long as it's sound, not peeling or cracking you should be ok to apply a chem and rinse down. - hypo usually works pretty well for algae, moss, lichen. If its pollution based I have a choice of 2 tensed products.
Algoclear or ammonium based can be used for a more long term gentle wash.

Are weber saying you can only use their product ? As its being described as an acid any of the above could be used, however if your client wants the approved product then use that and price accordingly

Talk to Weber ask them for a spec for cleaning their Render that will not infringe the warranty of the product. (it still will not cover you if something goes wrong).

Hi Darren, it is second hand information that we have received via the housing management team, but according to them Weber has ok'd it on their properties. We have suggested that an acid could possibly cause damage but they have not specified what typoe or strength of acid that has been approved by weber. We are not chemists but we woul dhave thought that an acid would have damaged the surface, if not further into the render with long term results that could not be reversible. We cant find anything on Weber website that suggests they produce any acid based products, they all seem be biocides. And what of the environmental impact when using an acid. thank you for your imput Darren.

Chris, things are looking good. Work is already coming in just waiting for that kit to come in and hopefully we will be sending you some pics of the work we have coming in. thanks for all of your advice. Cheers Chris for the nod to use some pics, we used a couple on our new leaflet.
