Wanted : porty carpet cleaning machine
« on: September 12, 2015, 12:27:26 pm »
Hi, as a long time lurker on this forum, I am now in need of a more professional machine, than my one stage above a vax little toy.
Mainly i do end of tenancy carpet cleaning, and in most cases a whiz over with my trusty little kiam is sufficient. If thats not good enough, or the carpet is badly stained, I will replace the carpet, so its win-win really, if i cant clean stains out.
However, after being on here for a while, i realise that my little machine is very poor compared to the giant machines that most of you guys use, or the truckmounts. Now i really dont want a truckmount, as I dont want to tie up a vehicle, im not trying to muscle in on the action of the local carpet cleaners, just offering my clients a full service when it comes to property maintenance. So if anyone is still awake, which machine should i buy?
Bear in mind its all domestic,  its nearly always berber poly carpets, which i have previously fitted. There are around 400 rental properties on my books, and i only ever get carpet cleans when tenants leave. So im normally cleaning about 2 - 3 carpets a week.  I also live in the north of scotland, so popping into a spares shop isnt an option!
Budget is 1 - 2000, with 2k being my absolute maximum, so bear this in mind when making suggestions. Im open to new and used equipment.

Thanks all for your replies.
Scott,  have found jamie through a google search,  will contact him tomorrow.
Michael, sorry, but i refuse to buy any ashbys product, i bought something from them before which they refused to send, due to my location, so i would have problems getting spare parts.
Smudger, thanks for your post

Well, I started the week looking for a extraction machine... And I might have gone a little overboard... But I got a good deal  :)
I heard a local carpet cleaner had recently retired, his wife sells the prochem chemicals in her shop, so i popped in...
Long story short, he sold me lots. I got a prochem ectraction machine, twin vac, with 2 new top of the range motors fitted, a low speed rotary, lots of brushes and pads, a scrubber dryer, a holloway pile lifter, a couple of air movers, a pile of chemicals, a grafitti kit, warious bits and bobs, carpet brushes, buckets, a fogger, a sebo vac, the list goes on...
I filled my transit, and had change out of a grand.
Delighted.
