Ah fair enough! How old are you if you don't mind me asking? Could it not be managed by one of the employees and you could still get an income from it?

I'm 58, and you ned 3 people trad. Still make between £55k and £60 a year nett

You'd be crazy to sell it then. You'll be lucky to get 20k for it IMO. I'm not saying that's what it's worth but in reality I'll not be far off unfortunately.

In my opinion it's worth a lot more than that. Once you've got a business with employees (assuming everything is above board) you're not in the realm of one guy buying a round with his redundancy money. Obviously it all depends on figures, but if he can employ three people and make 55k profit without his own labour, I'd say it was probably worth two years profit at least with equipment.

I agree.

For 3 people making a profit of 60k I'd think that the business must be turning over at least 120k a year so you'd have vat, etc.

If you have a chartered account they would be able to value the business for you.

If not, it might be worth having a business audit in order to establish liabilities/debts and goodwill for a sale price that's reasonable.
